Manage Your Responses

If you are responding to a message that is sent to a distribution list you belong to, you can reply only after you take ownership of the message. Note: You can see all communication sent and received through the NextGen® PxP Portal for a selected patient in one view with the Patient-Specific View button. From the main toolbar, select the Inbox button. The Workflow window opens. Select the Patient Portal tab. The Communications, Prescriptions, Appointments, and Online Forms folders appear in the left pane. The messages appear in the right pane. Do one the following actions: To reply to the sender, select Reply. The To field fills in with the name of the person from whom you received the message. If the patient sent you the message, the patient's name appears. To reply to the patient, on Reply, select the arrow next to Reply, and then select To Patient. The patient's name fills in the To field. To reply to everyone, select the arrow next to Reply, and then select To All. Either enter you

Add a Message to the Chart

When sending a message to another NextGen® PxP Portal user, if you select Send & Chart, the message is automatically added to the patient's chart after it is sent. When charting a message, the default encounter type is only applied if you do not select a specific encounter or encounter type. For more information about setting up the default encounter type, go to NextGen Healthcare Success Community and download the latest Configuration Guide for NextGen® PxP Portal. You can add messages to the chart in one of the following ways: From the Do this Workflow module Select a message and select To Chart. Inbox of a message category Right-click a message, select Add to Encounter, and then select one of the following encounter types: Add to New Encounter (Locked) Add to New Encounter (Unlocked) Add to/Update Original Encounter The message is charted to a new unlocked encounter if it has not been charted using this option. The message is charted to the last used encounter if previously charted

Compose and Send Messages

Before you begin Ensure that the Patient Messaging online solution is active in Site Generator so that messages sent from NextGen® Enterprise applications can reach the patient's NextGen® PxP Portal mailbox. When you or your co-workers initiate a message, the Category column displays Practice Initiated in the Outbox grid view. For messages that are sent as replies to practice initiated messages, the Category column is blank. Remember to set the Do Not Reply option if you do not want the recipients to be able to respond. From the main toolbar, select the Inbox button. The Workflow window opens. Select Compose. The Patient Portal Message window opens. Enter the Subject of the message. In the message field, do one of the following: Enter your message. Select a standard response Enter a recipient. Optional: To change the sender, select the arrow next to From, and select an option.
