You can order durable medical equipment (DME) your practice can dispense.
- Open the Home or any other applicable template, select Orders from the upper navigation bar, and then select Internal DME.
The Internal DME template opens.
- To add diagnoses and procedures for the order, select Dx & Px.
Note: Selecting procedures is optional; however, you must select at least one diagnosis to order equipment.
- Select an item from the Orthotics and Prosthetics grid.
The following fields are automatically filled:
- Item
- Charge
- Deposit
- Body Region
Note: You can select any off-the-shelf (O), custom (C), or cash (CA) item. You can add, update, and delete items in the Orthotics and Prosthetics grid.
- Optional: Modify the charge.
Note: By default, Insurance displays the payer's name from the encounter-level insurance, and Date displays the encounter date.
- Enter the duration, brace adjustment values, and size of the equipment.
- If your practice is unable to dispense an equipment and a substitute is required, select the substitute equipment, and then select OK to Substitute.
- Select the appropriate side of the body.
- To enter the provider information for NextGen® Automated Document Sharing in the Patient Providers window, select the CC Provider 3 checkbox.
The details of the provider from the
Patient Providers window automatically appear in
CC Provider 3.
Note: If NextGen® Automated Document Sharing is installed and configured, the letter of medical necessity and prescription document for the durable medical equipment (DME) are automatically faxed to the provider when placing the order.
- Optional: To assign a task to clinical staff, select Task O&P

- Optional: To indicate that the patient received a list of orthotics providers and generate the acknowledgement document, select O&P List Received.
- Enter your comments and messages.
- Select Place Order.
The documents configured for internal DME orders in the Document Config template are sent to the document queue.
- Optional: To generate all documents from the document queue, select Generate Documents
.
Note: You can refresh the
DME Prescribed grid by selecting

. To generate documents for any existing order, you can select it from the grid, and then select
Regenerate Document 
.
- Optional: To edit an order, select it from the DME Prescribed grid, and then select Edit.
