Add Diagnoses for Orders

You must add at least one diagnosis to order external radiology tests, therapies, durable medical equipment (DME), lab tests, and referrals. An order needs at least one diagnosis, and it can be associated with one or more procedures. Open any applicable template, and then select Dx & Px. The Diagnoses & Procedures window opens. Note: The diagnoses from all past encounters appear in the Diagnosis grid. Select Orthopedic or Medical for the Diagnosis grid. To associate a diagnosis with the order, double-click it from the Diagnosis grid. The selected diagnosis is added to the Diagnoses grid. Note: To remove a diagnosis, select it from the Diagnoses grid. Select Close. Order Tests, Therapies, Equipment, and Referrals in the Single Order Template

You can document the details of radiology, therapy, lab, durable medical equipment (DME), and referral orders required for a patient and place all orders at once. Open the Home or any other applicable template, select Orders from the upper navigation bar, and then select Single Order. Select Dx & Px to add the necessary diagnoses and procedures. Selecting procedures is optional; however, you must add at least one diagnosis to order external radiology tests, therapies, durable medical equipment (DME), lab tests, and referrals. Note: You can use the Radiology Picklists panel in the Radiology Configuration template to make diagnosis-code selection mandatory for placing internal radiology test orders, depending on the category. Document Details of External Equipment

You can document the order details for durable medical equipment (DME) that must be purchased from external sources for orthopedic patients. Open the Home or any other applicable template, select Orders from the upper navigation bar, and then select Single Order. Expand the External DME panel. Select the item to order from the Item grid. The selected item appears in the Item field. Note: You can add, update, and delete items in the Item grid. By default, the current date appears in Date. Select the duration of the item, the date of the injury, and the date of surgery. Enter the reason for the order. Update Radiology and Lab Orders in the Orders Worklog

You can update the details of radiology and lab orders placed from any location of your practice. To open the Orders Worklog system template, do one of the following: Select File > System \ Practice Template, and then select Orders Worklog from the Select Template window. From the Home or any other applicable template, select Orders > Single Order to open the Single Order template, and then select the Orders Worklog link. Optional: Filter the orders in the grid by location and other options. Note: All categories of orders placed from the selected location appear in the Orders Worklog template, except those with the Completed, Performed, and Cancelled statuses. To update a radiology or lab order, select the order from the grid, and then select Edit. Note: The Edit button becomes available only if you select a radiology or lab order. Using NextGen® Orthopedic Suite

You can use the NextGen® Orthopedic Suite templates to document the encounter details for different visit types of an orthopedic patient. Order External Equipment in the External DME Template

You can order durable medical equipment (DME) from external sources for orthopedic patients. Open the Home or any other applicable template, select Orders from the upper navigation bar, and then select External DME. The External DME template opens. To add diagnoses and procedures for the order, select Dx & Px. Note: Selecting procedures is optional; however, you must select at least one diagnosis to order equipment. Select the item to order from the Item grid. The selected item appears in the Item field. Note: You can add, update, and delete items in the Item grid. By default, the current date appears in Date.
