You can document the order details for durable medical equipment (DME) that must be purchased from external sources for orthopedic patients.

You can document the order details for durable medical equipment (DME) your practice can dispense. Open the Home or any other applicable template, select Orders from the upper navigation bar, and then select Single Order. Expand the Internal DME panel. Select an item from the Orthotics and Prosthetics grid. The following fields are automatically filled: Item Charge Deposit Body Region Note: You can select any off-the-shelf (O), custom (C), or cash (CA) item. You can add, update, and delete items in the Orthotics and Prosthetics grid. Optional: Modify the charge. Note: By default, Insurance displays the payer's name from the encounter-level insurance, and Date displays the encounter date. Enter the duration, brace adjustment values, and size of the equipment. If your practice is unable to dispense an equipment and a substitute is required, select the substitute equipment, and then select OK to Substitute. Select the appropriate side of the body. You can document the details of therapy orders for orthopedic patients. Open the Home or any other applicable template, select Orders from the upper navigation bar, and then select Single Order. Expand the Therapy panel. Select an option to indicate if the patient is referred internally or externally for therapy. Select the date of injury, and then select the necessary treatment. Optional: Select other appropriate checkboxes for the therapy order. Optional: In Other physician goals, enter any additional information. Optional: Enter the certification period for the therapy order. Enter the weekly frequency and additional details. Note: You can enter the weekly frequency and duration, or only the number of visits required for therapy. Selecting the Up to Therapist checkbox eliminates the need to enter the weekly frequency, duration, and number of visits. You can document the details of lab tests to order them for a patient. Open the Home or any other applicable template, select Orders from the upper navigation bar, and then select Single Order. Expand the Labs panel. Select one of the following options: Internal for lab tests performed and billed in your practice on the same day. External for lab tests performed and billed at an external facility. From Performing Entity, select the entity performing the lab test. Optional: Select the priority. Note: By default, R - Routine appears in Priority. Select one of the following options to filter the test grid: To display your custom list of configured tests, select My Tests. To display all configured standard tests, select All Tests. To display the custom list of tests configured for another provider, select Others, and then select the provider's name. You can add durable medical equipment (DME) that must be purchased from external sources. Open the Home or any other applicable template, select Orders from the upper navigation bar, and then select Single Order or External DME. In the External DME template or the External DME panel of the Single Order template, right-click the Item grid, and then select Add New. The IORTSdme_master_extDME window opens. You can order durable medical equipment (DME) from external sources for orthopedic patients. Open the Home or any other applicable template, select Orders from the upper navigation bar, and then select External DME. The External DME template opens. To add diagnoses and procedures for the order, select Dx & Px. Note: Selecting procedures is optional; however, you must select at least one diagnosis to order equipment. Select the item to order from the Item grid. The selected item appears in the Item field. Note: You can add, update, and delete items in the Item grid. By default, the current date appears in Date. Select the duration of the item, the date of the injury, and the date of surgery. Enter the reason for the order. Select Place Order. The documents configured for external DME orders in the Document Config template are sent to the document queue. Optional: To generate all documents from the document queue, select Print Documents . You can update the details of durable medical equipment (DME) that must be purchased from external sources. You can also delete any unnecessary DME. Open the Home or any other applicable template, select Orders from the upper navigation bar, and then select Single Order or External DME. In the External DME template or the External DME panel of the Single Order template, select an equipment to update or delete from the Item grid. Optional: To delete the selected item, right-click and select Delete. To update the selected item, right-click and select Open. The IORTSdme_master_extDME window opens with the details of the selected item. Update the necessary details. Select Save, and then select Close.
