Documenting Injections and Aspirations

You can document joint injections and aspirations for a patient.

On the MICS Injections/Aspirations template, you can document joint injection or aspiration procedures for a patient encounter. You can use the fields appearing above the Procedure Type panels to add the preliminary details for documenting injection and aspiration procedures.

The Procedure Type panels have the procedure type automatically selected as injection or aspiration based on the configuration in the Injections & Aspirations Provider Panel Defaults panel of the Admin Configuration template. For more information, go to NextGen Healthcare Success Community, and download the latest Configuration Guide forNextGen®Medication Inventory Control.

To change the current procedure type, you can click the procedure type link in the panel name. You can document the following details in the Procedure Type panel.

  • Procedure information
  • Up to four medications for injections
  • Appearance and quantity for aspirations
  • Patient’s response to the procedure

After documenting injection and aspiration procedures in the Procedure Type panels, you can use the sections below the Procedure Type panels to complete documenting the procedures, and then submit charges. You can also view the injection and aspiration procedures that are previously performed for the selected patient in the Submitted Injection/Aspiration Procedures grid.
