Documenting an Injection

You can document the procedure and medication information for an injection in the Procedure Type panel on the MICS Injections/Aspirations template. You can document the medication information for up to four medications for an injection. You can also document patient's response for the documented injection in the Patient Response section. Adding Preliminary Details for Injections and Aspirations

You can add preliminary details for documenting injection and aspiration procedures on the MICS Injections/Aspirations template. The following table describes the fields appearing above the Procedure Type panels on the MICS Injections/Aspirations template, which are used to add preliminary details for documenting injection and aspiration procedures. Field Description Consent was obtained You can select this check box to indicate that the consent was obtained for performing the procedure. This information is added to the patient’s file and office visit document. Procedure/risks were explained You can select this check box to indicate that the procedure and the risks associated with it were explained to the patient. This information is added to the patient’s file and office visit document. Questions were answered You can select this check box to indicate that all questions of the patient were answered. Update Submitted Injection or Aspiration Details

You can update injections or aspirations details even after they are submitted for billing using the admin override functionality. After you complete the documentation of an injection or aspiration procedure and submit the charges, the procedure record becomes locked. If you have administrative override rights, you can unlock the record to make changes or document additional information. Administrative override does not remove any charges already submitted; those must be adjusted manually. Note: the Admin Override button is only visible to users with administrative override rights. Open the MICS Injections/Aspirations template. Select Admin Override. The system confirms if you want to override charges on this encounter. Select Yes. The submit button appears, and the Admin Override button is replaced with the Admin Override text. From the Injection/Aspiration Procedures grid, select a procedure record to be updated. When you have documented all procedure information, your final steps are to capture any follow-up visit information, submit charges and generate the ophthalmology injection procedure note. Follow-up Visit Information

You can document follow-up information and timeframe, and that post injection instructions were given in the section below the panels. All these fields are optional. Check the Appropriate post injection instructions given check box. Mark the Schedule follow-up visit check box. Select the Timeframe field and select a timeframe from the picklist. Select the Follow-up with field and select a health care provider from the picklist. In the Reason (s) for next visit section, check the Injection/Aspiration box to indicate another procedure or click in the Other field and enter a different reason.
