Select the medication from the top grid of medications given today. The medication details fields in the panel fill in. Select the Clear button. A query window asks if you want to waste the medication. Select Yes. The MLT Dbpl Waste Reason picklist opens. Select the reason and click OK. The fields clear. The medication is marked as wasted and removed from inventory. To enter a new medication lot number, follow steps under Documenting Medications Administered for an Injection. Enter medication information manually or by scanning the barcode. Select the Clear button. A window opens asking if you want to waste the medication. Select Yes. Note: Clicking No clears out the fields. The MLT Dbpl Waste Reason picklist opens. Select the reason and click OK. The fields clear out and the medication is marked as wasted and removed from inventory. You can waste a medication for any reason using either of the panels on the MICS Dispensing template. Doing so records the medication as wasted and takes it out of your inventory. You can waste while entering the medication information or after it has been saved in the Medications grid at the top of the template. You can remove a particular quantity of a non-vaccine medication and waste them from the medication inventory. You can use the Inventory Management template to waste medications from the inventory. You can also waste medications from the medical record templates during dispensing or administration. On the Inventory Management template, expand the Medication Inventory panel. Select the Waste option below the medication grid. The fields below the medication grid, except the Qty field, are disabled for editing. The Reason for Waste field and Waste Medication button appear below the medication grid. Filter the medications displayed in the grid for selecting the desired medication. Select the medication to be wasted from the medication grid. The following fields are automatically filled based on the selected medication. Source Drug Name Manufacturer NDC Lot# JCode Unit Type Expiration Dt Barcode In the Qty field, enter the quantity to be wasted from the inventory. Select the Reason for WastWaste Medications

Select the medication from the grid above the panels. The medication information enters the Medication Dispensing panel fields. Select the Clear button to the right of the medication information. The application prompts you to confirm that you want to waste the medication. Select Yes. The MLT RFWpicklist opens. Select the reason for waste and click OK. The fields and the grid entry clear. The medication is marked as wasted and removed from inventory. To re-enter medication and administration information for the new medication lot number used, follow the steps under Documenting Dispensed Medications. You can waste a vaccine for any reason using the MICS Immunizations template. This marks the vaccine as wasted and takes it out of your inventory. You can waste the vaccine: While entering in the vaccine information. After it has been saved in the Immunization Orders grid. Waste While Entering Information Waste a Vaccine in the Immunization Orders Grid You can waste a vaccine even after it is saved to the Immunization Orders grid.
