Waste a Medication While Entering Information

Enter the Source, Medication, Lot Number and Quantity, using manual entry or barcode scanning. Select the Clear button to the right of the medication information fields. A window prompts you to confirm that you want to waste the medication. Select Yes. The MLT RFWpicklist opens with reasons for the waste. Select the reason for waste and click OK. The fields clear and the medication is marked as wasted and removed from inventory. To re-enter medication and administration information for the new medication lot number used, follow the steps under Documenting Dispensed Medications. Document Using QuickPicks

You can use a QuickPick to fill in the template quickly and efficiently. Here we describe using QuickPicks that you built and saved previously (see QuickPick Toolbar). Select the Star button to access the rendering provider’s QuickPicks or the Double-Star button to access System Sets and other providers’ QuickPicks. A picklist opens with the available QuickPicks. Select a QuickPick from the list and click OK. The information populates into the fields of the panel(s) exactly as it was saved, with the Lot Number field saying Required in red. If sub-locations are enabled for your practice, click the Sub-Location field and select the sub-location from which the medication is being used. Select the Lot Number field. A picklist opens. Select the lot number. The system runs a DUR Check for the medication. The expiration date for the selected lot displays in the Exp. Date field. Repeat steps 4-5 for all medications. Waste a Medication from MICS Dispensing

You can waste a medication for any reason using either of the panels on the MICS Dispensing template. Doing so records the medication as wasted and takes it out of your inventory. You can waste while entering the medication information or after it has been saved in the Medications grid at the top of the template. Waste a Medication after Saving it to the Grid

Select the medication from the top grid of medications given today. The medication details fields in the panel fill in. Select the Clear button. A query window asks if you want to waste the medication. Select Yes. The MLT Dbpl Waste Reason picklist opens. Select the reason and click OK. The fields clear. The medication is marked as wasted and removed from inventory. To enter a new medication lot number, follow steps under Documenting Medications Administered for an Injection. Mark Medications as Waste Using MICS Med Management

You can mark medications as waste and take them out of the inventory using the MICS Med Management template. Open the MICS Med Management template. Select the prescribed or ordered medication in the Medication Management panel. The details appear in the Manage Selected Medication section. If sub locations are enabled, select the sub location the medication is pulled from. Enter the details of the medication manually or using the bar code. If more than one unit is being dispensed or administered today, click the Rx Quantity field, and change the quantity. Select Clear All. A message appears prompting you to confirm that you want to waste this medication. Select Yes. Note: Selecting No clears the fields. The MLTS RFW picklist appears. Select the reason, and click OK. The medication details are removed, the medication is marked as wasted, and the medication is taken out of the inventory. Parent topic: Managing Medications

Waste a Vaccine in the Immunization Orders Grid

You can waste a vaccine even after it is saved to the Immunization Orders grid. On the MICS Immunizations template, expand the Immunization Administration panel. Select one of the following options to view the required order in the Immunization Orders grid. : Today's Orders Prior Pending Orders Select the required vaccine order. The information for the vaccine appear in the fields. Select the Clear All button. A confirmation window opens. Select Yes. The picklist of reasons for waste MLT RFWpicklist opens. Select the reason for waste, and then select OK. The fields get cleared. The vaccine is marked as wasted, and is removed from the inventory. Parent topic: Waste a Vaccine
