Documenting Dispensed Medications

You can document medications being dispensed, if you do not need to bill for their administration in the Medication Dispensing panel on the MICS Dispensing template. You can document up to six dispensed medications at one time. You can enter medication information: Manually Using Quickpicks Using Add Med on the Fly link By scanning the barcode Document Dispensing Medication Manually You can manually document medication dispensed to a patient in your practice. Document Dispensing Medication by Scanning Barcode You can document medication dispensed to a patient in your practice by scanning the barcode printed on the medication package. Documenting Dispensing and Administration Details

You can document the details required for billing dispensing and administration of patient medications in the Medication Dispensing and Administration panel on the MICS Dispensing template. Document Medication Administration for Billing You can document the medication administration details required for billing. Document Administered Medications Manually You can manually document medication administered to a patient in your practice. Document Administered Medications by Scanning the Barcode You can document the medication administered to a patient in your practice by scanning the barcode printed on the medication package. Adding General Information for Dispensed Medications

You can add general information for documenting dispensed medications on the MICS Dispensing template. The following table describes the fields on the MICS Dispensing template, which are used to add general information for dispensed medications. Field Description Prepared by You can click this field, and select the preparer of the injection from the providers window. Specialty You can click the field, and select an appropriate specialty from the specialty window. After you enter the specialty, the selected value is defaulted in the Specialty field on the following templates of the NextGen® Medication Inventory Control, and the Specialty field becomes read-only. MICS Imms MICS Injections/Aspirations MICS Med Management Sub-Location You can click this field, and select the sub-location for dispensing medications. If you are dispensing medications from multiple sub-locations, you can change the sub-location, as needed. This field appears only if it is configured in the Sub-Location(s) & P

History of Dispensed Medications

Waste After Medication Saved to Administered Today Grid

Select the medication from the grid above the panels. The medication information enters the Medication Dispensing panel fields. Select the Clear button to the right of the medication information. The application prompts you to confirm that you want to waste the medication. Select Yes. The MLT RFWpicklist opens. Select the reason for waste and click OK. The fields and the grid entry clear. The medication is marked as wasted and removed from inventory. To re-enter medication and administration information for the new medication lot number used, follow the steps under Documenting Dispensed Medications. Waste a Medication While Entering Information

Enter the Source, Medication, Lot Number and Quantity, using manual entry or barcode scanning. Select the Clear button to the right of the medication information fields. A window prompts you to confirm that you want to waste the medication. Select Yes. The MLT RFWpicklist opens with reasons for the waste. Select the reason for waste and click OK. The fields clear and the medication is marked as wasted and removed from inventory.
