Waste Medications

You can remove a particular quantity of a non-vaccine medication and waste them from the medication inventory.

1. On the Inventory Management template, expand the Medication Inventory panel.
2. Select the Waste option below the medication grid.
   The fields below the medication grid, except the Qty field, are disabled for editing. The Reason for Waste field and Waste Medication button appear below the medication grid.
3. Filter the medications displayed in the grid for selecting the desired medication.
4. Select the medication to be wasted from the medication grid.
   The following fields are automatically filled based on the selected medication.

   • Source
   • Drug Name
   • Manufacturer
   • NDC
   • Lot#
   • JCode
   • Unit Type
   • Expiration Dt
   • Barcode

   

5. In the Qty field, enter the quantity to be wasted from the inventory.
6. Select the Reason for Waste field, select a reason from the reasons window, and then select OK.
   The Waste Medication button is enabled.
7. Select Waste Medication.
   The results are as follows:

   • The specified quantity of the medication is removed from the inventory and recorded as wasted in the Waste panel and Waste Report document.
   • The number of items and total quantity displayed in the Grid Count and Grid Total fields are automatically updated.
