Order a COVID-19 Vaccine

You can order COVID-19 vaccines through the Immunizations module. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR and then open the Immunizations module. To create an order, select New. The Create New Immunization Order window opens. To select the vaccine from a favorite category, do the following: Select a favorite category from the By Category list. The Select Vaccines section lists vaccines that are included in the selected category. Select a vaccine from the displayed list. To search for a vaccine from the inventory, do the following: Select Search All. The Search Vaccines window opens. Select Search inventory only to restrict the search to the vaccine inventory. Enter the vaccine name, CVX code, CPT4® code, or the CPT4 description, and then select Find. From the displayed list, select a vaccine, and then select OK. Which minimum version of the Medication Update do I need to see COVID-19 vaccine details? December 2020. This version contains the Pfizer and Moderna vaccine codes, as well as drug interaction and contraindication warnings. When new vaccines are released, how will we get that content into our EHR? We are working with First Databank (our data partner for medications and vaccines) for gaining access to any code sets approved by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), to be included in future medication updates. These are being released to the industry ahead of vaccine approvals to allow time for the Healthcare Information Technology (HIT) community to prepare. Setting up Rights and Preferences for the Immunizations Module

The System Administrator should work closely with the core team of the practice to ensure that appropriate rights, preferences, SAP® Crystal Reports®, other reports, and other tasks are set up for the user groups. The administrator needs to update the Setup when the business needs change for the practice. Some functions and preferences are same for the Immunizations module and the Orders module. Therefore, if you are using the Orders module, ensure that you set up the preferences for the Orders module before you set up the Immunizations module. Create SIM Codes for COVID-19 Vaccines

Each manufacturer’s vaccines are represented by individual unique CPT4® and administration codes. You can add the unique COVID-19 vaccine codes to the Service Item Library. Open File Maintenance. Under Libraries, select Service Items. The Service Items List window opens. To add codes to a library, select an existing library and select open menu , and then select Open. Note: You can create a Service Item (SIM) library for COVID-19 vaccines by selecting open menu and then selecting New. The Service Item Library Maintenance window opens. Add the vaccine CPT4 codes and administration codes to the SIM Library and select OK. Note: Each manufacturer’s vaccines are represented by individual unique CPT and administration codes.
