Order a COVID-19 Vaccine

You can order COVID-19 vaccines through the Immunizations module.
  1. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR and then open the Immunizations module.
  2. To create an order, select New.
    The Create New Immunization Order window opens.
  3. To select the vaccine from a favorite category, do the following:
    1. Select a favorite category from the By Category list.
      The Select Vaccines section lists vaccines that are included in the selected category.
    2. Select a vaccine from the displayed list.

  4. To search for a vaccine from the inventory, do the following:
    1. Select Search All.
      The Search Vaccines window opens.

    2. Select Search inventory only to restrict the search to the vaccine inventory.
    3. Enter the vaccine name, CVX code, CPT4® code, or the CPT4 description, and then select Find.
    4. From the displayed list, select a vaccine, and then select OK.
  5. Under Assign Diagnosis to Selected Vaccines section in the Immunizations module, select Check Interactions to check for any drug interactions.
    Drug Interactions are present in the First Databank dataset, which may present warnings to users regarding patient age, allergies, or potential contraindications as part of the ordering workflow.

  6. To enter administration details, select the Vaccine Details tab.
  7. To provide the Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) fact sheet to the patient, do the following:
    1. Select Save & Print.
      The Print VIS window opens.

    2. To print the Vaccine Information Statement (VIS), select Print.
    3. To confirm that the fact sheet is given to the patient, select Document As Given.
  8. In the Immunizations module, select Save to update the patient chart with the order.
  9. Open the Procedures module to verify codes that were submitted from the administration record.
    Charges automatically pass to NextGen® Enterprise PM as determined by practice preferences.

  10. Open NextGen® Enterprise PM Charge Entry to verify that the charges were passed as expected.
