Create SIM Codes for COVID-19 Vaccines

Each manufacturer’s vaccines are represented by individual unique CPT4® and administration codes. You can add the unique COVID-19 vaccine codes to the Service Item Library. Open File Maintenance. Under Libraries, select Service Items. The Service Items List window opens. To add codes to a library, select an existing library and select open menu , and then select Open. Note: You can create a Service Item (SIM) library for COVID-19 vaccines by selecting open menu and then selecting New. The Service Item Library Maintenance window opens. Add the vaccine CPT4 codes and administration codes to the SIM Library and select OK. Note: Each manufacturer’s vaccines are represented by individual unique CPT and administration codes. Create Inventory Entries for COVID-19 Vaccines

You can add entries for any COVID-19 vaccine stock available to your practice in the Vaccine Inventory List window. Open File Maintenance. Under Master Files - System, select Vaccine Inventory. The Vaccine Inventory List window opens. To create entries for any vaccine stock available to your practice, select open menu , and then select New. The Vaccine Inventory window opens. Find the corresponding COVID-19 vaccine from CDC Vaccine List and enter values in all the required fields. Note: Most details are automatically filled by the First Databank content set, including the manufacturer. Update VIS with COVID-19 Vaccine Details

You can update Vaccine Information Statement (VIS) with the Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) fact sheet content. Open File Maintenance. Under Master Files, select System and then select VIS Setup. The VIS SetUp List window opens. To create entries for COVID-19 vaccines being administered, select open menu , and then select New. The Add VIS Document window opens. Note: Users must download the Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) fact sheets from the CDC webpage or NextGen Healthcare Success Community. These are attached to the corresponding vaccine. The EUA fact sheets are available only for approved vaccines. The File Name option expands to a folder specified in the System Administrator preferences where the downloaded fact sheets are placed. NDC Library in File Maintenance

The NDC (National Drug Code) library enables you to create an NDC drug product list to help you manage billing for drugs that are given in the clinic. In addition, the library enables you to define the relationships between NDC and CPT4 codes. NDC is a universal product identifier for human drugs. Each drug product listed is assigned a unique 11-digit, 3-segment number. This number, known as the NDC identifies the labeler/vendor, product, and trade package size. Select the Default NDC Library

You can select a default NDC Library in the Libraries Practice Preference to enable the NDC feature for use in your practice. Access File Maintenance then in the System category, select Practices. On the Modify Practice Information window, double-click your practice. Select Preferences and select Libraries from the Practice Preferences list.
