Update VIS with COVID-19 Vaccine Details

You can update Vaccine Information Statement (VIS) with the Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) fact sheet content. Open File Maintenance. Under Master Files, select System and then select VIS Setup. The VIS SetUp List window opens. To create entries for COVID-19 vaccines being administered, select open menu , and then select New. The Add VIS Document window opens. Note: Users must download the Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) fact sheets from the CDC webpage or NextGen Healthcare Success Community. These are attached to the corresponding vaccine. The EUA fact sheets are available only for approved vaccines. The File Name option expands to a folder specified in the System Administrator preferences where the downloaded fact sheets are placed. Drug and Medication Data

The drug and medication data available in NextGen® Enterprise EHR, including medication name, dosage, National Drug Code (NDC) ID, interactions, and patient education information, is provided by the third-party provider, First Databank, Inc. NextGen Healthcare provides regular medication updates available for download from NextGen Healthcare Success Community. You must ensure that your drug and medication database is up-to-date. If you open the Medications module in NextGen® Enterprise EHR when the drug and medication database is not updated for 90 days or more, the Medication Module Drug Database Warning message window warns you that the drug database might be out of date. COVID-19 Vaccine Administration FAQ

Which minimum version of the Medication Update do I need to see COVID-19 vaccine details? December 2020. This version contains the Pfizer and Moderna vaccine codes, as well as drug interaction and contraindication warnings. When new vaccines are released, how will we get that content into our EHR? We are working with First Databank (our data partner for medications and vaccines) for gaining access to any code sets approved by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), to be included in future medication updates. These are being released to the industry ahead of vaccine approvals to allow time for the Healthcare Information Technology (HIT) community to prepare. NextGen Healthcare will then provide new medication updates, potentially outside of our once-a-month cadence, to support getting this detail to our clients. Order a COVID-19 Vaccine

You can order COVID-19 vaccines through the Immunizations module. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR and then open the Immunizations module. To create an order, select New. The Create New Immunization Order window opens. To select the vaccine from a favorite category, do the following: Select a favorite category from the By Category list. The Select Vaccines section lists vaccines that are included in the selected category. Select a vaccine from the displayed list. To search for a vaccine from the inventory, do the following: Select Search All. The Search Vaccines window opens. Select Search inventory only to restrict the search to the vaccine inventory. Enter the vaccine name, CVX code, CPT4® code, or the CPT4 description, and then select Find. From the displayed list, select a vaccine, and then select OK.
