Viewing Insurance Information in Encounters

You can view a patient's insurance information in the Insurance tab You can view insurance information for an encounter in the Insurance tab under Encounters. The Encounters section displays the list of patient encounters. The Insurance Information section displays information for the selected insurance based on the setup for the payer in the payers master file in File Maintenance. View Diagnosis Mapping

When a diagnosis that was selected in Charge Entry multiplies into more than one code for a payer based on the alternate diagnosis mappings in the diagnosis code library, you can view the diagnosis code mapping on the General tab under Encounters in the patient chart. Open NextGen® Enterprise PM. On the main toolbar, select Chart or Chart Lookup.. The Patient Lookup window opens. In the Search Criteria section, enter the patient's information, and then select Find. Patient records that match the search criteria appears in the Matching Records section. Select the patient, and then select Open. The Patient Chart window opens. Select the Encounters tab. The encounters associated with the patient are displayed in the Encounters section. Select the encounter from the Encounters section. The details of the selected encounter appear. Select the COB Alt Diag under the Providers section. Create an Encounter

Before you begin Ensure that you have configured the encounter inheritance settings for Encounters on the Practice Preferences window in File Maintenance. When you have a patient chart open, you can create an encounter for the patient. Each new encounter may inherit information such as Encounter Details and Insurance from the previous encounter in the patient chart. You can add templates, documents, images, and other patient items to the new encounter. You can also assign insurance, enter remarks, and associate a program to an encounter. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR, and select a patient from Patient Lookup window. To create an encounter, do one of the following: On the Patient Information Card (PIC), select New Encounter. On the PIC, select Profile Options, and then select New Encounter. On the Encounter History tab, select New Encounter. From the File menu, select New > Encounter. Encounters in NextGen® Enterprise PM

An encounter is an interaction between a patient and a provider in the practice on a specific date and time. In NextGen® Enterprise PM, office encounters are typically created from the appointment book when each patient checks in for their appointment. Facility encounters that are not related to an appointment, such as hospital and nursing home visits, can be created from the patient's chart. Clinical information related to a specific encounter is documented by the provider in NextGen® Enterprise EHR. Financial information, such as charges, billing and transactions, is entered on that same encounter by users in NextGen® Enterprise PM. The Encounters tab on Patient Chart lists all encounters for a patient, and the Encounters Detail tab on Account Profile lists all encounters for a guarantor. Set up General Case Information

The General tab of the Case Management window is where you enter the case details and assign related cases. Create a new case in PM. Select one of the following options in the Case Status field: Open Closed Pending Reopened Note: In NextGen® Enterprise PM, you cannot close cases created in NextGen® Enterprise EHR and have open clinical encounters. A message displays indicating that the case contains unlocked clinical encounters. You must lock encounters and child encounters before closing the case. Select Patient Type. Enter Case Description. Enter the Effective Date, Expiration Date, Onset Date, and Onset Time. Select Occurrence Code. Select State. Enter Same/Similar Date for the Occurrence. Select the Referring Provider. If necessary, select the search button to access the Provider Lookup window. If available, select Case Diagnosis and/or Case Procedure. If necessary, add a Case Contact. Encounters in NextGen® Enterprise EHR

An encounter is an interaction with a patient on a specific date at a specific time. An encounter can be a visit, a phone call, a virtual visit, a referral, a test result, or an interaction. A patient can have more than one encounter per day. Patient encounters are displayed on the Encounter History tab. You can expand or collapse the Encounter History tab using the button above the Quick Buttons panel. Each row in the Encounter History tab represents one encounter. Encounters are identified by date and time, provider, and location. The Encounter History tab displays basic information of an encounter like the rendering provider, location, appointment type/reason for visit, templates and documents related to the appointment.
