Viewing General Information in Encounters Viewing General Information in Encounters The General tab under Encounters in the patient's chart displays general, provider, diagnosis, and guarantor information for the selected encounter. You can use the Encounters tab to do the following: Open an encounter to view the Encounter Maintenance window. Right-click an encounter to open the shortcut menu. Add or to modify an encounter. Add or modify encounter-level diagnosis codes for an encounter in the ICD-CM section. You can view the ICD-9 to ICD-10 mapping for the ICD-10 codes that have been attached to the patient for the encounter. Add or modify guarantor information for an encounter in the Guarantor section. View the existing case icon next to the encounter number in the Encounters section if Case Management has been enabled for your practice and a case is associated with the encounter. Add Benefit Information to Patient Insurance

You can record annual and lifetime benefit information to help determine patient responsibility. Open NextGen® Enterprise PM. On the main toolbar, select Chart or Chart Lookup . The Patient Lookup window opens. In the Search Criteria section, enter the patient's information, and then select Find. Patient records that match the search criteriaa ppear in the Matching Records section. Select the patient, and then select Open. The Patient Chart window opens. Select the Encounters tab. The encounters associated with the patient appear in the Encounters section. Select the Insurance tab and then select the encounter from the Encounters section. Right-click the selected insurance, and then select Open. The Insurance Maintenance window opens. Select the Benefits Info tab and then select the Eligibility and Benefits tab. Add Insurance Verification Information to an Encounter

You can enter additional information for an insurance linked to an encounter in the Patient Insurance - Encounter window. This applies to primary, secondary, and tertiary payers. Open NextGen® Enterprise PM. On the main toolbar, select Chart or Chart Lookup.. The Patient Lookup window opens. In the Search Criteria section, enter the patient's information, and select Find. Patient records that match the search criteria, appear in the Matching Records section. Select the patient, and then select Open. The Patient Chart window opens. Select the Encounters tab. From the Encounters list, select an encounter with a payer attached. Select the Insurance tab. In the Encounter Insurance section, select the payer. In the Verification section, select open record . Add Insurance and Financial Information to Patient Encounters

Open NextGen® Enterprise PM. On the main toolbar, select Chart, and then in Patient Lookup, enter your search criteria, and then select Find. Matching people and patient records appear in the search results. In Matching Records, select a patient record , and then select Open. The Patient Information tab opens in the Patient Chart window. Select the Encounters tab, and then select the Insurance tab. In Encounters, select an encounter, and then in Encounter Insurance, right-click a listed insurance, and then select Open. You can also open the Insurance Maintenance window by right-clicking the added payer. Note: To add manual referrals on Insurance Maintenance, you must configure the practice preferences to view Referral Required checkbox on Insurance Maintenance. You can also scan the patient insurance card in Insurance Maintenance. The window also provides you with a pushpin icon to indicate that data exists for a category and provides you with easy access to the Insurance Maintenance window. Also, you can perform the following actions: Access a right-click menu with options for sizing columns and selecting columns to display on the window. Select the pushpin icon to access the Insurance Maintenance window and view, add, or modify information to the category. Hover over the column header to view information such as patient name, DOB, effective date, expiration date, encounters remaining, and status. Select on a column to access the corresponding tab on the Insurance Maintenance window. For example, if a pushpin icon is not present in the Card column, a select in the column will take you directly to the Ins Cards tab of the Insurance Maintenance window.
