View and Edit Benefit Financial Information
- Open NextGen® Enterprise PM.
- On the main toolbar, select Chart or Chart Lookup
.
The Patient Lookup window opens. - In the Search Criteria section, enter the patient's information, and then select Find.
Patient records that match the search criteria appear in the Matching Records section.
- Select the patient, and then select Open.
The Patient Chart window opens.
- Select the Encounters tab.
The encounters associated with the patient are displayed in the Encounters section.
- Select the Insurance tab, and then select the encounter from the Encounters section.
- Right-click the selected insurance, and then select Open.
The Insurance Maintenance window opens.
- Select the Benefits Info tab and then select the Financial Information tab.
- To view existing financial information, select open menu
, and then select New or Open.
The Financial Information window opens. - In Spoke With, enter the name of the person with whom you spoke.
Note: You can use the Shift +Tab keys to reverse tab in the Financial Information window.
- In Date Verified, enter the date you verified the information in mm/dd/yyyy format.
- In Does Lifetime Benefit Limit Apply?, select one of the following options:
If you select this option: Do this: Yes Enter the Lifetime Benefit Limit and Amount of Lifetime Benefit Limit. No The Lifetime Benefit Limit field is populated with $999,999,999.99. - In Does Annual Lifetime Benefit Limit Apply?, select one of the following options:
If you select this option: Do this: Yes Enter the Annual Benefit Limit and Amount of Annual Benefit Limit met fields. Note: The Annual Benefit Limit field must be less than the value in theLifetime Benefit Amount field.No The Annual Benefit Limit and Amount of Annual Benefit Limit met fields are dimmed. - In Deductible/Spend down amount, enter the amount of deductible.
- In Amount of deductible met, enter the amount met to date.
- In % of Coverage, enter the percentage of coverage.
Note: This value must be greater than 0 and less than or equal to 100 (>0 or <=100).
- In Does Annual Out of Pocket Max Apply?, select one of the following options:
If you select this option: Do this: Yes Enter the Annual Out-of-Pocket Max, Amount of Out-of-Pocket met, and % of Coverage after Out-of-Pocket fields. Note: This value must be greater than 0 and less than or equal to 100 (>0 or <=100).No - The Annual Out-of-Pocket Max is populated with $999,999,999.99.
- The value from the % of Coverage field is copied to % of Coverage after Out-of-Pocket.
- For Will payer pay the practice directly?, enter Y or N or select one of the following options:
- Yes
- No
The Encounter Number field appears if the financial information is linked to it. Only in-progress encounters are linked.- One encounter can be associated to Primary, Secondary, and Tertiary insurance for one patient.
- The Encounter Number field only displays when the Require encounter linked to Financial Information sub tab field is selected on the Pat Pay under Practice Preferences window.
- In Date, select the date on which the encounter occurred.
Note: This field displays only when the Require encounter linked to Financial Information sub tab check box is selected on Pat Pay under Practice Preferences window.
- Select open menu
, and then select one of the following:
- To open the Encounter Lookup window and open an existing encounter or link a new encounter to the financial information, select Open Existing Encounters.
- To remove the link to the encounter displayed in the Encounter Number field, select Clear Encounter.
- Select OK.
