Viewing General Information in Encounters Viewing General Information in Encounters The General tab under Encounters in the patient's chart displays general, provider, diagnosis, and guarantor information for the selected encounter. You can use the Encounters tab to do the following: Open an encounter to view the Encounter Maintenance window. Right-click an encounter to open the shortcut menu. Add or to modify an encounter. Add or modify encounter-level diagnosis codes for an encounter in the ICD-CM section. You can view the ICD-9 to ICD-10 mapping for the ICD-10 codes that have been attached to the patient for the encounter. Add or modify guarantor information for an encounter in the Guarantor section. Set Up Encounters for Enhanced UB Claims (After Billing)

Access the Encounter Maintenance window for the patient and encounter the UB claim was created for. In NextGen® Enterprise PM, select the Chart button on the main toolbar. The Patient Lookup window opens. Enter Search Criteria to locate the desired patient and then select Find. From the Matching Records section, double-click to open the desired patient. The Patient Chart window opens. Select the Encounters tab. Right-click the encounter, and then select Open. The Service Location field is no longer accessible once an encounter has been billed. Select the UB tab. Encounter Maintenance The fields on this window automatically default the applicable information once the encounter has been billed. Do not change any of the information on this window. Select the Occurrence Codes tab. Add Insurance Verification Information to an Encounter

You can enter additional information for an insurance linked to an encounter in the Patient Insurance - Encounter window. This applies to primary, secondary, and tertiary payers. Open NextGen® Enterprise PM. On the main toolbar, select Chart or Chart Lookup.. The Patient Lookup window opens. In the Search Criteria section, enter the patient's information, and select Find. Patient records that match the search criteria, appear in the Matching Records section. Select the patient, and then select Open. The Patient Chart window opens. Select the Encounters tab. From the Encounters list, select an encounter with a payer attached. Select the Insurance tab. In the Encounter Insurance section, select the payer. In the Verification section, select open record . Add or Remove Diagnosis Codes for an Encounter

You can add or remove diagnosis codes from an existing encounter using the Payment Entry window. You cannot remove diagnosis codes if they are associated with a charge. All alternate diagnoses, such as COB1 Alt Diag, COB2 Alt Diag, and COB3 Alt Diag, appear in the Selected ICD-CM Codes list. Open NextGen® Enterprise PM. On the main toolbar, select Posting . The Batch Posting window opens. Double-click the batch header record. The Payment Entry window opens. Type the encounter number in Enc/Clm#, and press Enter. The account guarantor, patient, medical record number, and the billed account displays in the Payment Entry window. Select the Encounter Diagnosis . The Diagnosis Selection window opens. Diagnosis Selection Window Select the Search Method, and then select Code or Description. appears on the selected option. View Eligibility Information for a Patient

Open NextGen® Enterprise PM. On the main toolbar, select Chart or Chart Lookup.. The Patient Lookup window opens. In the Search Criteria section, enter the patient's information, and select Find. Patient records that match the search criteria appear in the Matching Records section. Select the patient and then select Open. The Patient Chart window opens. Select the Encounters tab. From the Encounters list, select an encounter with a payer attached. Access the patient's chart and select the Encounters tab. Select the Insurance tab. Set Up an Encounter for Regular UB Users

Access the Encounter Maintenance window for the patient and encounter the UB claim is being created for if you want occurrence and value codes to display on the UB claim. In NextGen® Enterprise PM, select the Chart icon on the main toolbar. The Patient Lookup window appears. Enter the search criteria and then select Find. To open the chart, right-click the chart and then select Open. On the Encounters tab, right-click the encounter and then select open menu icon . The Encounter Maintenance window appears. Select the UB tab, then the Occurrence Codes sub-tab. Enter the occurrence codes and dates in the field locator fields, if applicable. To enter the value codes and associated dollar value or unit value, select the Value Codes tab and enter the data in the Field Locator fields. Select OK.
