Add Diagnosis Codes for Encounters
- Open NextGen® Enterprise PM.
- On the main toolbar, select Posting

The Batch Posting window opens. - Double-click the batch header record.
The Payment Entry window opens.
- In Enc/Clm#, enter the encounter number, and then select Enter.
The account guarantor, patient, medical record number, and the billed account details appear in the Payment Entry window.
- Select Encounter Diagnosis
.
The Diagnosis Selection window opens. - Select Search Method, and then select Code or Description.
appears on the selected option.
- To search for a diagnosis, do one of the following:
- In ICD-CM Codes, enter the code number or a partial description.
A list of matching diagnosis codes appear in Code and Description.
- To search for a phrase or number in the code value, select Search for keyphrase anywhere in the diagnosis and enter a number or partial description in ICD-CM Codes.
A list of matching diagnosis codes appear in Code and Description.
- In ICD-CM Codes, enter the code number or a partial description.
- To add a diagnosis code to an encounter, select the code and select
to move the code to Selected ICD-CM Codes.
Note: You can remove the codes from the encounter by selecting code in the Selected ICD-CM Codes, and then selectingto move the code to ICD-CM Codes. You cannot remove diagnosis codes if they are associated with a charge. All alternate diagnoses, such as COB1 Alt Diag, COB2 Alt Diag, and COB3 Alt Diag appear in Selected ICD-CM Codes.
- Select OK.
The added diagnosis codes appear in the Patient Chart window in the ICD-CM section.
