Document Patient Education for Physical or Occupational Therapy

Open a patient record, and then in Encounter History, expand a case and select an encounter. Open the NTS Homepage template associated with the encounter, and then select a PT or OT visit type. Open the NTS Single Visit template, and then expand the Objective panel. Under Treatment, select Education. The Education template opens in the NTS PT Treatment Edu window. For patient education, enter a description under Education of the education provided by doing one of the following: Select Body Mechanics, Gait, or ADL as the education type, and then select a description in each field. Note: If you select the blank space at the top of the list, you can type an entry into the field. To enter custom descriptions that is not related to an education type, make sure that none of the Body Mechanics, Gait, or ADL options are selected, and then enter your descriptions in the fields. Document Caregiver Education for Physical or Occupational Therapy

You can document the physical and occupational therapy training the patient's caregiver receives in the patient's absence. The patient or representative must have given consent for this training. The caregiver training information appears on the Office Visit document. Open a patient record, and then in Encounter History, expand a case and select an encounter. Open the NTS Homepage template associated with the encounter, and then select a PT or OT visit type. Open the NTS Single Visit template, and then expand the Objective panel. Under Treatment, select Education. The Education template opens in the NTS PT Treatment Edu window. Select Patient consented to caregiver training. Select the appropriate checkbox that describes whether the caregiver training is for an individual or a group. For individual caregiver training, enter the total minutes of training time in Min, and then enter any therapist assistant-led training time in Asst. Entering Time for Treatments

You can document the unattended and individual time spent with a patient for each applicable code using the fields below each grid on the NTS Treatment template. If an assistant led the therapy for any part of the time, you can indicate that in the Asst Time field. You can enter the time that a therapist spent with the patients in group therapy in the Group Time field and enter the size of the group in the Group Size field. If an assistant led the group therapy for any part of the time, you can indicate that in the Group Asst Time field. Note: The checkbox next to the Asst Time or Group Asst Time fields gets selected if the assistant time is more than the configured % of the total time. If PT/OT students treat the patient under the general supervision of the therapist, you can enter the time in the Total General Supervised Student Time field. Treatment Template

Use the NTS Treatment template to record therapeutic activities. Add Treatment Plan Details for PT/OT and Speech Visits

In the NTS Single Visit or NTS Speech Single Visit template, expand the Plan panel, and then go to the Treatment Plan section. If this is the first visit in this case, the Treatment grid will be empty. Afterwards, when you open this template, all entries in the grid copy forward from the prior visit. Select a category of treatment activities by doing one of the following: To enter general treatment activities, select Default. To enter treatment activities specific to a specialty, select a specialty category. Note: Administrators can configure categories and associated picklists in the NTS Picklist Manager practice template. Select the Treatment field. A picklist of treatment items opens. Do one of the following to add all treatment activities you plan to use to rehabilitate the patient: Select the items from the picklist, and then select Close or Done. Document Treatments Performed Today

The Performed Today section is used to document what treatments performed during the treatment encounter and enter additional information. Treatments, CPT and Time (mins) values carry forward to future encounters where they can be modified or updated as needed. Treatment Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR. On the Objective template, navigate to the Treatment panel. In the Performed Today section, complete treatment details performed. Click the Weight field and use the numeric keypad to enter the weight used when performing the exercise/treatment, if applicable. Click the Sets field to enter the number of sets of the exercise/treatment performed, if applicable. Click the Reps field to enter the number of repetitions performed in each set of the exercise/treatment. Click the Exertion field and select the exertion level when the exercise/treatment was being performed from the picklist.
