Order Radiology Tests in the Radiology Order Template

You can order radiology tests performed and billed in your practice or on at an external facility.

1. On the Home or any other applicable template, select Orders from the upper navigation bar, and then select Radiology Order.
   The Radiology Order template opens.
2. Select one of the following options for Performed:
   • Internal Today for radiology tests performed and billed in your practice on the same day.
   • Internal Later for radiology tests performed and billed in your practice on a future encounter.
   • External for radiology tests performed and billed at an external facility.
3. Do one of the following:
   • To place radiology orders with diagnoses, select Dx & Px, and then add the necessary diagnoses.
     Note: You must add at least one diagnosis to order external radiology tests. You can use the Radiology Picklists panel in the Radiology Configuration template to make diagnosis-code selection mandatory for placing internal radiology test orders, depending on the category.    • To place radiology orders without diagnoses, select the value from Indication.
     Note: The Indication field is required when the selected category is configured to exclude diagnoses for internal orders.
4. Select the category of the radiology test, performing entity, and performing location.
   Note: The values in Category and Performing Entity determine the tests in the Radiology Tests grid. Category is set to X-ray unless you remove or rename this category in the Radiology Picklists panel of the Radiology Configuration template. If the MRI/MRA Questions link is configured for the selected category, you can select the link to document the patient's contraindications and additional information.

   If the performing entity is configured for the selected category, it is automatically filled in Performing Entity. Otherwise, the Performing Entity field is set to <To Be Determined>. 5. Optional: Change the priority.
   Note: By default, R - Routine appears in Priority.
6. Optional: In Internal Notes for Tech, enter any additional information.
7. Select one of the following options to filter the tests in the Radiology Tests grid:
   • To view tests and multitest groups configured for you, select My Tests.
     Note: A multitest group is a group of radiology tests you can select to add all tests in that group.
   • To view all the configured standard tests, select Standard.
   • To view tests and multitest groups configured for any other provider, select Others, and then select the provider's name.
8. Select the tests or multitest groups from the Radiology Tests grid to associate them with the order.
   Note: When you add a test or multitest group with diagnoses to the This Order grid, you can also do the following depending on the configurations:

   • If the selected test is configured for Appropriate Use Criteria (AUC) and has a diagnosis code, the AUC Score Wizard window opens, where you can review the AUC score and select a different test. AUC G-codes are sent to the Finalize Visit template.    • If you add a multitest group with a test that is not mapped to the selected performing entity, the caution icon appears. You can select the icon to view tests not included for the order.
9. To add special instructions, select any combination of Weight Bearing, With Markers, or Apply Stress.
10. For female patients, select the pregnancy status.
11. Select modifiers, and then enter your comments.
    Note: Modifiers are not applicable to external radiology orders.
12. From Follow Up, select the appropriate option for the radiology follow-up.
13. Select Place Order.
    The radiology order is sent to the Order module, and the documents configured for radiology orders in the Document Config template are sent to the document queue. If a task is configured for radiology orders in the Tasking Configuration template, the task is automatically assigned, or the Add New Task window opens based on the configuration.
14. Optional: To generate all documents from the document queue, select Radiology Order .
    Note: You can refresh the Radiology Orders grid by selecting . To generate documents for any existing order, you can select it from the grid, and then select Regenerate Document .
