Change User Preferences
You can change many of the default user preferences within NextGen® Enterprise EHR. Access NextGen® Enterprise EHR. Open Preferences window. Select the tab that contains the preferences to change. Change the preference in the selected tab. Select Apply. Depending on your selections, a warning message may appear, informing you that the preference changes are not in effect until the next time you open the application. Select OK to close the message. Select OK to accept the changes you have made and exit from the Preferences window. To exit without saving changes, select Cancel. Parent topic: User Preferences

Disable Incomplete Orders Notification
NextGen® Enterprise EHR displays a notification message when you have incomplete orders in Computerized Physician Order Entry (CPOE) and you do any of the following: When you close the patient chart. When you select a different patient while the current patient chart is open. When you close the NextGen® Enterprise EHR window. When you sign out from NextGen® Enterprise EHR. You can disable this notification in Tools > Preferences. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR. Select Tools > Preferences. The Preferences window opens. Select the General tab. Clear the Prompt when closing chart with incomplete items in orders check box. Select Apply and then select OK. Set up Synchronization Settings Preferences
By default all NextGen® applications are synchronized to show the same selected patient when you switch from one application to another. For example, if you select Jane Doe in NextGen® Enterprise EHR and switch to NextGen® Enterprise PM, Jane Doe is automatically selected. Do the following in the Synchronization Settings section: To turn off synchronization, select the Suspend Patient Synchronization check box. To display a window prompting you to automatically create an encounter for the selected patient when you switch from another NextGen application to NextGen® Enterprise EHR, select the Prompt for encounter auto creation check box. Set up the Initial Module Preference
The Initial Module preference enables you to select a module to open when you log on to NextGen® Enterprise EHR. By default, the Main window opens after you initially log on to NextGen® Enterprise EHR. If the Initial Module on Close Patient Universal Preference is set to True by your system administrator, this preference enables you to select a module to automatically open when you close the current patient. CPOE Configuration Requirements
Computerized Physician Order Entry (CPOE) is available on NextGen® Enterprise EHR from version 5.9.2020.1 onwards. Before using CPOE, ensure that you have: Set the screen resolution on your system to 1366 x 768 pixels or higher. Configured the Orders module in NextGen® Enterprise EHR. For more information on the NextGen® Enterprise EHR Orders module, go to NextGen Healthcare Success Community and download the latest Orders Module User Guide for NextGen® Enterprise EHR. Enabled the CPOE Order Search Bar in File Maintenance > Practice Preferences > EHR so that it appears in NextGen® Enterprise EHR. Note: When you enable the CPOE Order Search Bar at the practice level in File Maintenance, users can hide the CPOE Order Search Bar at the user level by clearing the CPOE Order Search Bar option in the View menu of NextGen® Enterprise EHR. Manage Patient Synchronization
You can configure patient synchronization in NextGen® Enterprise PM from the Suspend PM/EHR application sync setting in your user preferences. From the Admin menu, select Preferences > User > General. The User Preferences window opens. Select the General tab. In the Suspend PM/EHR application sync check box, do one of the following: Clear the check box to enable patient synchronization. Select the check box to disable patient synchronization.
