Print Patient Education Topics for Patients

You can print patient education topics to give to patients. Additionally, you have options to save patient education topics to the encounter and send them to the NextGen® PxP Portal when you print. Open a patient and create a new encounter or select an unlocked one. Open Patient Education Browser. Do one of the following: Browse for a topic and select it. Find a topic by entering search criteria find a topic by entering search criteria. Find a topic with Recommended Search. Add topics to the shopping cart add topics to the shopping cart. Do one of the following: In the Selected Documents list, select the check boxes for the topics you want to print. Patient Education Browser

With Healthwise Patient Education installed in NextGen® Enterprise EHR, you can perform the following: Access Patient Education Browser to search for internal and external patient education material. Perform context-sensitive searches of Healthwise Patient Education and practice defined patient education material in NextGen® Enterprise EHR. Access Healthwise Knowledgebase through the internal browser. Save patient education material to a patient's chart or a patient's NextGen® PxP Portal account. Delete the saved patient education documents on an unlocked encounter in the Encounter History. Open Patient Education Browser You can open the Patient Education Browser window to search for patient education resources. Access External Patient Education from the Medications Module

You can access the External Patient Education resource from the Medications module. The external resource collects the RxNorm information for the selected medication and the patient’s age, age range, and gender. This information is passed through the InfoButton to the external system. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR. Open the Medications module for a patient. Enter a new medication for the patient, if required. Do one of the following: Right-click the medication, and then select Resources > External Patient Education. Select the medication, and then select Resources > External Patient Education from the toolbar of the Medications module. The application directs you to the external URL set up in File Maintenance. Note: The External Patient Education resource is also available from the Medication Search window. Add Topics to the Shopping Cart

You can add topics to the shopping cart so that you can print them, save them to the patient encounter, or send them to NextGen® PxP Portal. Open a patient and create a new encounter or select an unlocked one. Open Patient Education Browser. Do one of the following: Browse for a topic and select it. Find a topic with Recommended Search. Find a topic by entering search criteria find a topic by entering search criteria. In the Search Results, highlight the document name. The patient education topic appears in the preview pane. Select Add to Cart. The documents are added to the Selected Documents (shopping cart) section. If the document comes from an external resource, the website name is added to the Title column and the term External appears in the Source column. Note: If you select the check box for one or more documents, the documents are added to the Selected Documents section automatically. External Patient Education

External Patient Education refers to educational resources that are available while connecting to a code (such as ICD-9, ICD-10, or CPT) or a description (such as RxNorm) to an external resource accessible through a URL that is set up in File Maintenance. When you right-click a code or term, the HL7 InfoButton accesses a URL to an external resource and launches the website in a web browser. Note: NextGen Healthcare recommends that you use the External Patient Education link to access resources that are useful to your patients' recovery and care, such as health behaviors, preventative education, and instruction about behaviors and activities that can assist in patients understanding about their care. Websites with InfoButton-compliant functionality may require subscriptions. Vendors (companies that provide patient education) are not required to adhere to the HL7 standards.
