Access Clinical Decision Support from the Problems Module

You can access the Clinical Decision Support resource from the Problems module. The Clinical Decision Support resource collects ICD-9, ICD-10 (as available), or SNOMED CT code information for the selected problem and the patient’s age, age range, and gender. The information is passed through the InfoButton to the external system. Open the Problems module for a patient. Enter a new problem in the Problem List tab or the Billing ICD List tab, if required. Note: The Problem List tab has the SNOMED CT term while the Billing ICD List tab has the ICD-9, or where applicable, ICD-10 code. Do one of the following: Right-click the problem, and then select Resources > Clinical Decision Support. Select the problem, and then select Resources > Clinical Decision Support from the Problems module toolbar. The application directs you to the external URL set up in File Maintenance. You can access the Clinical Decision Support resource from the Medication Allergies module. The Clinical Decision Support resource collects RxNorm information for the selected allergy and the patient’s age, age range, and gender. The information is passed through the InfoButton to the external system. Open the Medication Allergies module for a patient. Enter a new allergy, if required. You can access the Clinical Decision Support resource from the Medications module. The Clinical Decision Support resource collects the RxNorm information for the selected medication and patient’s age, age range, and gender. The information is passed through the InfoButton to the external system. Open the Medications module for a patient. Enter a new medication for the patient, if required. Do one of the following: Right-click the medication, and then select Resources > Clinical Decision Support. Select the medication, and then select Resources > Clinical Decision Support from the Medications module toolbar. The application directs you to the external URL set up in File Maintenance. Closing the website returns you to the original patient and location. Note: The Clinical Decision Support resource is also available from the Medication Search window. Access Clinical Decision Support from the Orders Module

You can access the Clinical Decision Support resource from the Orders module. The external resource collects the LOINC code or CPT4 codes for the selected lab result and the patient’s age, age range, gender, and observation interpretation flag (normal or abnormal). This information is passed through the InfoButton to the external system. For the observation codes, see Observation Codes for Lab Results. Open the Orders module for a patient. Note: Orders must have results before you can access external educational resources. Select the result, and then select Resources > Clinical Decision Support on the Orders module toolbar. Clinical Decision Support

Clinical Decision Support refers to the external resources that provide evidence-based decision support interventions. These external resources enable you to select one or more electronic clinical decision support interventions based on each and at least one combination of the following: Problem list Medication list Medication allergy list Demographics Laboratory tests and values/results Vital signs In NextGen® Enterprise EHR, clinical decision support electronically identifies diagnostic and therapeutic reference information for the user. The HL7 InfoButton link set up in File Maintenance activates the Clinical Decision Support URL to connect you to context-sensitive information based on the active NextGen® Enterprise EHR module. Note: NextGen Healthcare recommends that the URLs associated with Clinical Decision Support access sites or vendors that provide you with additional information, such as suggested care plans and recommendations based on the patient's results or diagnoses. Access External Patient Education from the Procedures Module

You can access the External Patient Education resource from the Procedures module. The external resource collects CPT4 information for the selected procedure and the patient’s age, age range, and gender. This information is passed through the InfoButton to the external system. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR. Open the Procedures module for a patient. Enter a new procedure for the patient, if required. Right-click the procedure, and then select Resources > External Patient Education. The application directs you to the external URL set up in File Maintenance.
