Print Patient Education Topics for Patients

You can print patient education topics to give to patients. Additionally, you have options to save patient education topics to the encounter and send them to the NextGen® PxP Portal when you print. Open a patient and create a new encounter or select an unlocked one. Open Patient Education Browser. Do one of the following: Browse for a topic and select it. Find a topic by entering search criteria find a topic by entering search criteria. Find a topic with Recommended Search. Add topics to the shopping cart add topics to the shopping cart. Do one of the following: In the Selected Documents list, select the check boxes for the topics you want to print. To select all the documents in the Selected Documents list, select the Print check box. Select Print, and then select one of the following: To print the selected document, select Print. Add Topics to the Shopping Cart

You can add topics to the shopping cart so that you can print them, save them to the patient encounter, or send them to NextGen® PxP Portal. Open a patient and create a new encounter or select an unlocked one. Open Patient Education Browser. Do one of the following: Browse for a topic and select it. Find a topic with Recommended Search. Find a topic by entering search criteria find a topic by entering search criteria. In the Search Results, highlight the document name. The patient education topic appears in the preview pane. Select Add to Cart. The documents are added to the Selected Documents (shopping cart) section. If the document comes from an external resource, the website name is added to the Title column and the term External appears in the Source column. Note: If you select the check box for one or more documents, the documents are added to the Selected Documents section automatically. You can select additional topics in the search results to add to the Selected Documents list,

Find a Topic by Entering Search Criteria

You can use different filters to refine your patient education topics search in both internal and external sources. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR. Open Patient Education Browser. Select either Internal or External, and then select the search term. Note: If you select Internal Patient Education in the Procedures or Problems modules, the patient education material that is available for searching, is context-sensitive. If the filter options do not appear, you can increase the size of the window to view the filters. To change the language, select a language from the Language list. Note: The default language is English. To refine your search, select the age range and gender. Note: The Patient Education Browser window selects the age and gender by default based on the selected patient's demographics. You can change the age and gender. Find a Topic with Recommended Search

The Recommended Search tab displays items in groups related to the module, order types, and NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine patient education triggers associated with the patient. You can select search functions in the following groups when they are listed: assessments, medications, orders, procedures/diagnostics/radiology, allergies, office supplies, office procedures, office medications, and office labs. For example, if the patient has a medication in the Medications module and a problem added in the Problems module, available patient education material related to the medication and the problem might be listed in this section under the headings Allergies and Problem List. When you select a recommended search item, the browser searches the internal resource by default on that item and displays the search results. Find a Topic by Browsing Documents Categories

Open Patient Education Browser. If required, in the Documents pane, select Language to view the patient education material in another language. Note: By default, patient education material is available in English. You can select the following languages: Arabic, Bosnian, Chinese, Farsi, Haitian, Korean, Russian, Somali, Spanish, Tagalog, or Vietnamese. Double-click a category folder (such as Cardiovascular) to expand it, and then select an age classification and a gender. Select the topic to view it in the Display pane, or double-click the topic to open. Use the Patient Education toolbar buttons to perform related tasks as required. If you have selected a language other than English while browsing for a topic, you can select the Return to English Index at the top of the document. Delete a Topic from the Patient's Chart

Before you begin You must ensure that you have the Delete Patient Education Document access right set to Yes in Rights > Operations > Patient Education > Delete Patient Education Document in System Administrator. You can delete the patient education document from the patient's chart in NextGen® Enterprise EHR. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR and select a patient. Select an unlocked encounter and select the button The Encounter Details window opens. Select the item you want to delete, and select the button. Select Delete. Note: If the seleted patient education document has sent to patient portal, an application message appears stating that the document has already sent to patient portal and unable to delete.
