Find a Topic by Entering Search Criteria
You can use different filters to refine your patient education topics search in both internal and external sources.
- Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR.
- Open Patient Education Browser.
- Select either Internal or External, and then select the search term.
Note: If you select Internal Patient Education in the Procedures or Problems modules, the patient education material that is available for searching, is context-sensitive. If the filter options do not appear, you can increase the size of the window to view the filters.
- To change the language, select a language from the Language list.
Note: The default language is English.
- To refine your search, select the age range and gender.
Note: The Patient Education Browser window selects the age and gender by default based on the selected patient's demographics. You can change the age and gender.
- In Search Criteria, enter the text according to the set criteria.
If you select ICD Code, you must enter an ICD code. If you select Title or Terms & Title for the search criteria, you must not enter commas in the search field to separate words. The search results are based on the entire phrase or individual words.Note: The Patient Education Browser window remembers searches you perform during the session. You can select the Search Criteria list to select most-recently entered text.
- Select Search.
The Search Results display the patient education topics that match the filtered search criteria. If the search is through an external resource, the search results pull the topics from a specified external resource website.
- To customize the patient education layout, do any of the following:
- To sort the results, select the column headers.
- To re-arrange the display order, drag a column header to the left or right.
- To view a topic in the preview pane, select the topic.
- To change the language of the document, in the preview pane, select the English and Spanish links.
