NextGen® Orthopedic Suite Home

You can use the Home template to access all the modules of the NextGen® Orthopedic Suite and view the summary of the medical and surgical history, medications, allergies, injections, and diagnostic tests for a patient. The recommended workflow is to begin a patient encounter on the Home template. From the Home template, you can use the workflow tabs and the links to access various templates of the NextGen® Orthopedic Suite. You can initiate a Scribe Encounter only on the Home template. You can also configure the Home template to exclude the radiology tests with the Cancelled or Error status in the All Internal Radiology Orders grid. Preregistration Workflow

You can only initiate the preregistration workflow to document the details of the patient before their visit to the office. The preregistration workflow is to be performed before a patient visit the office. For example, a phone nurse contacts the patient to perform preregistration before the appointment. You can open the preregistration workflow templates using the Pre Reg link on the Home template. The following table describes the templates used in this workflow. Template Description Pre Reg To document the chief complaints, appointment details, patient demographics, and insurance details. You can also generate letters for preregistration of patients. Clinical Approval To document the clinical approval requirements. Billing Approval To document the billing approval requirements. Surgery Scheduling Workflow

The surgery scheduling workflow for NextGen® Orthopedic Suite begins on the Surgery Sched template. The information can be entered by clinical staff but must be reviewed and signed off by a provider or surgeon. You can use QuickPick to fill standard information for each surgery type and then add patient specific information. Note: Best practice recommends that you open the Surgery Sched template on its own encounter. Surgeries may be scheduled months in advance and this enables the coordinators to unlock the encounter without having to worry about changing documentation for a previous visit. Patient Contact Workflow

You can use the patient contact workflow to document and track the basic contact details, test results, and after hours contact details of a patient. The patient contact workflow contains the following templates. Patient Contact. You can document basic contact information such as medication refills and question for the doctor. Test Results. You can track the radiology results, lab orders, and orders from the providers who are relayed to the practice. After Hours. You can track after hours contact such as medical issues and refill requests. You can access the patient contact workflow templates using the Patient Contact link on the Home template. Add Patient Contact Details You can document a patient's contact details, generate the patient contact summary document, and generate the contact letter. FD Worklog Template

The FD Worklog is a system-level template. It tracks any forms for all patients entered from the HIPAA template in the forms tracking grid. This allows multiple users to see the status of different patient forms, even if a user is not the one who initiated or added the form. You can filter the grid for Completed Forms or Declined Forms, using the options at the top. General Office and Virtual Visit Workflow

The general visit workflow includes the following: Intake staff workflow provides instructions for nurses or medical assistants on how to use the Intake and Histories templates to document reasons for visit, medication, allergies, social history, and so on. Provider workflow provides instructions for physicians on how to use the SOAP and Finalize templates to document assessment and physical exam details, generate evaluation, management codes, and so on.
