Order Referrals in the Referral Order Template

You can place referral orders for other specialties, providers, therapies, and durable medical equipment. Open the Home or any other applicable template, select Orders from the upper navigation bar, and then select Referral Order. The Referral Order template opens. To add diagnoses and procedures for the order, select Dx & Px. Note: Selecting procedures is optional; however, you must select at least one diagnosis to order referrals. Optional: To indicate that the referral is internal, select Internal referral. Select the date of injury and insurance name. Note: By default, the encounter date appears in Date. You can change the date, if needed. The policy number is automatically filled based on the selected insurance name. In the To section, do one of the following to select the recipient: To add a referral for a specialty or provider, select Specialty/specialist name/site, and then select the specialty, provider name, and reason. Creating Excuse Notes and Generic Letters

You can create generic letters and excuse notes for a patient to describe the restrictions due to an injury. You can use the Forms template to document patient's medical condition, and generate excuse notes for school, gym, work, and sports. You can also create generic letters for any other occasions. Forms template The following table describes the panels on the Forms template. Panel Description Excuse To document the details of the excuse for work and school. Restrictions To enter the restrictions for the patient in gym and sports activities. Generic Letter To document the details to create a generic letter for any other occasions. Create Excuse Notes

You can create a patient's excuse notes for school and work. Open the Forms template. Excuse panel on the Forms template Select the Pt Seen check box. The calendar window opens to select the date of the appointment. Select the date on the calendar window, and click OK. Enter the time of the appointment as follows: To enter the current time, click the Clock icon icon. To enter a specific time, click the Down arrow icon icon, enter the time in the time entry window, and then click OK. In the Excuse panel, do the following: Select the appropriate options for excuse. Type any comments for excuse, if needed. Click the Provider field, select the name of the provider from the providers window, and then click OK. Note: By default, the name of the rendering provider is displayed in this field. Select the Done check box.
