Custom DBpicklists	System-level template used to create and maintain custom DB picklists and maintain those shipped with the system. Custom Navigation	Practice-level template used for configuring and customizing links in the sliding left side navigation pane.
Manage Custom Links	Practice-level template used to create links between the wording of a displayed link and the template that it opens when it is clicked; with the Framework template set, used to create and manage links for chief complaint/reason for visit and HPI templates.
Office Diagnostics Setup and Management	Practice-level template used for configuring and managing routinely performed office diagnostic tests and procedures, office meds and office supplies; also known as standing/verbal in-office orders.

Ophthalmology Content for the Framework Template Set

One of the biggest benefits of the Framework-based tabbed workflow is being able to configure content and navigation using the Framework Content system template. When you are on the main specialty Home Page or Intake template, selecting a specialty and a visit type causes the navigation and content configured on the Framework Content system template to load the configured template set. The Framework Content system template enables clients to easily set up navigation at the specialty level, the practice level, and the provider level using the fields at the top of the template. Note: The recommended best practice is to use the configuration setup functionality at the Framework Content system template at the specialty level as often as possible. It is recommended that clients avoid or limit the use of provider-based configuration setups due to the difficulty in maintaining the large numbers of configuration setups that can result when using provider-based setups. Before the NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine for Ophthalmology can be used in a clinical setting with patients, individuals responsible for setting up and maintaining the system have to review and configure specialty-specific functionalities and content for Ophthalmology. Since Ophthalmology templates compromise of three different template sets , it is important to know which Home template to use and how to open it. For clients using the Ophthalmology Ambulatory Surgical Center (ASC) templates, there are additional steps for setting up a practice as an Ambulatory Surgical Center. Note: This version of NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine includes both the newer framework-based tabbed Ophthalmology templates and the templates for the 10-tab workflow used in previous versions of NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine, which have been revised to meet Meaningful Use requirements. Get Started with Ophthalmology in NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine

The NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine for Ophthalmology include workflow for three areas of Ophthalmology: General, Retina, and Ambulatory Surgical Center (ASC). Before you begin to use the Ophthalmology templates, setup and configuration must be performed. Note: Before using the newer framework-based Ophthalmology template set, content should be reviewed on the Framework Content system template. Template configuration settings specific to General Ophthalmology, Retina, and Ophthalmology ASC are made using the Eye Configuration practice template, and NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine practice level configurations are made using the Practice Configuration practice template. Clients should also review and update custom picklists using the Custom Picklists system template. This section covers the different work flows available for Ophthalmology, and additional setup considerations for Ophthalmology.
