One of the biggest benefits of the Framework-based tabbed workflow is being able to configure content and navigation using the Framework Content system template.
- When you are on the main specialty Home Page or Intake template, selecting a specialty and a visit type causes the navigation and content configured on the Framework Content system template to load the configured template set.
- The Framework Content system template enables clients to easily set up navigation at the specialty level, the practice level, and the provider level using the fields at the top of the template.
Note: The recommended best practice is to use the configuration setup functionality at the Framework Content system template at the specialty level as often as possible. It is recommended that clients avoid or limit the use of provider-based configuration setups due to the difficulty in maintaining the large numbers of configuration setups that can result when using provider-based setups. This is particularly important for clients with large numbers of providers. However, it is recommended that provider level configurations be used for those providers with specialties not represented in NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine. (For example, Endocrinology and certain surgical sub-specialties.)

Note: Ophthalmology does not use the Physical Exam or Procedures configurations on the Framework Content system template.
