Make Gender Related Details Available in Documents

You can control gender related details only in the master and patient plan documents from the Document configuration in the SOGI/Transgender section. To make the gender related details available on other customized documents, you must insert predefined macros in the documents. However, unlike master and patient plan documents, you cannot control details from appearing on customized documents. Set the Pronoun of a Patient

You can set the pronoun of a patient in all the NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine template concatenations, documents, and macros with the Pronoun to be Used for Concatenation field under the SOGI/Transgender section. The Pronoun to be Used for Concatenation field allows you to set the pronoun of a patient, either as The patient or The client, or you can leave the field blank. On the Practice Configuration template, scroll to the SOGI/Transgender section. For Pronoun to be Used for Concatenation, select The patient or The client. Note: By default, the field is blank. If the field is left blank, the system will take the default pronoun based on the patient's birth sex. SOGI/Transgender section Select Save and Close. System and Practice Templates Used for Ophthalmology Configuration

System and practice templates allow clients to configure different functions and features of the NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine to meet their own preferences without having to make customizations to templates using Template Editor. The following templates are used for configurations by all specialties: Field Description Framework Content System-level template used for configuring content and navigation on the Framework Template Set and specialty template sets based on the Framework templates. For more information on framework content, go to NextGen Healthcare Success Community and download the Framework Content System Template for NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine. Practice Configuration Practice-level template used for configuring practice preferences for the functioning of important features throughout the system by selecting from options currently available. You can set the pronoun to be used in concatenation for the HPI and enable gender related details to appear in the chart note

You can configure gender neutral PE and ROS templates using the Detailed Sexual History tab. Identify SOGI Fields as Protected Content

The fields on Protected Content tab identify a patient's sexual orientation and gender identity (SOGI). If any of these fields are identified as protected content, then a user must have the appropriate security permissions in System Administrator to view the field data. For example, a patient identifies their current gender as Male and their preferred pronoun as She or They. When you select the Preferred Pronoun field, only then users with the appropriate security permissions can view the data in the Preferred Pronoun field. To access this tab use one of the following paths: In NextGen® Enterprise PM, select Preferences > Enterprise Preferences > Protected Content. In File Maintenance, select Master Files > System > Enterprises. Select the applicable Enterprise and then Preferences > Protected Content. The Enterprise Preferences > Protected Content tab opens. Turn On the Detailed Sexual History Tab

You can turn on the Detailed Sexual History tab for your practice so that the providers can document the detailed sexual history of patients and their partners. From the File menu, select System\Practice Template.The Select Template window opens. On the Practice tab, double-click Practice Configuration.The Practice Configuration template opens.
