Copy Fields within the Same Template

You can copy and paste active text, check box, edit (data entry), or radio button fields with or without triggers within the same template only. The fields can be native to the template or shared from another template. When you right-click a field or in the template body, a menu displays the available copy and paste options: Copy Field. Copies the field only. Copy Field with Triggers. Copies the field and its triggers. Paste Field. Pastes the field if you selected Copy Field. Pastes the field and its triggers if you selected Copy Field with Triggers. Alternatively, you can use keyboard commands to copy a selected field and any associated triggers to a new field on the same template. You can copy and paste existing local template fields the same way you do other fields. You can also copy a field with or without triggers as a local field using a keyboard command. Template Field Types

The following table explains the types of template fields listed in the order that they appear on the Fields toolbar. Field Description Label Labels allow you to add information to a template. You can set up a label as a header for the template or simply to enter text viewable template users. Data Entry (Edit) Data entry fields allow you to enter information into NextGen® Enterprise EHR through templates. These fields can be used to enter time, date, and numeric values, as well as user-defined text. Check Box Checkboxes allow you to enter data by selecting or clearing a predefined response. Push Button You can use buttons to trigger several different actions. Launching another template or module within NextGen® Enterprise EHR is the most common purpose of buttons. Data Sheet Data sheets display data from NextGen® Enterprise EHR tables in tabular or grid format. Template Fields

You can insert fields on a template and share, copy, and adjust their appearance and layout. Note: Some template types have limited template field availability. Copy a Field without Triggers

You can copy only active text, check box, data entry (edit), or radio button fields. The fields can be native to the template or shared from another template. You can copy existing local fields the same way you do other fields. To create a local field from a copied field, see Copy a Field as a Local Field. Do one of the following: To display copy options, right-click the field, and then select Copy Field. In the template, right-click where you want to place the copied field, and select Paste Field. Select the field, and then select CTRL+C. In the template, select where you want to place the copied field, and select CTRL+V. The window for inserting the selected field type appears. For example, if you select a data entry field, the Insert Data Entry window opens. Insert Data Entry window Note: You cannot change the Table name. If you copy a shared field, the table name for the new field is taken from the native template (the template currently open), not the source template for the share

You can copy only active text, checkbox, data entry (edit), or radio button fields. The fields can be native to the template or shared from another template. You can copy existing local fields the same way you do other fields. For information on copying and pasting triggers only, see Copy a Trigger. For another method of copying a field with triggers, see Copy Triggers from the Triggers window. To create a local field from a copied field, see Copy a Field as a Local Field.
