Insert Radio Buttons

Before you begin

Ensure that the Enhanced checkbox option in the Preferences tab of the Template Properties window is selected to make the Extended tab and the Large Icon and Push checkboxes available in the General tab of the Insert Radio Button window.

You must set the Universal Preference for Enable Radio Button Clearing to True in System Administrator to allow users to clear a selected radio button. For more information, go to NextGen Healthcare Success Community, and download the latest System Administrator User Guide for NextGen® Enterprise.

You can log on as a KBM admin in Template Editor to modify the properties of NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine templates.

  1. Open Template Editor, and then from the Fields toolbar, drag Radio Button to the template design area.

  2. In Table, do one of the following:
    • To create a field native to the table associated with this template, leave the field blank.
    • To share fields with another template, select that template.
    • To create a local template field, select local.
  3. In Field, do one of the following:
    • To create a field, enter the field name.

      You can use up to 30 alphanumeric characters. You must not begin the name with a number or underscore, or include any spaces.

    • To share a field from another template, select the template from Table, and then from Field, select the field you want to use.
  4. In Caption, enter the text to be displayed for the radio button.
    You can select Left Text to position the caption on the left of the radio button. You can also enter the percentage % symbol in Caption to replace numeric values.
  5. In Values and Type, enter alphabetic, numeric, or decimal values.
  6. To change the length of the field, enter the value in Length.
    By default, the length for numeric type is 0.
  7. To change the position of the field on the template, enter the vertical and horizontal coordinates in Position.
  8. To set the size of the radio button and the associated caption, clear Auto Size, and enter the dimensions in Size.
    Auto Size is selected by default.

    You can select Large Icon to configure the size of the radio button to large icon.

  9. In Style, do one of the following:
    • Select Normal to enter data.
    • Select Read-Only to display data.
    • Select Required to allow saving the entire template.
  10. In Align, select Left, Center, or Right alignment.
  11. To set up the radio button as the default selection, select Default.
  12. To hide the field, select Hidden.
  13. To apply a push-button functionality to the radio button, select Push.
  14. Enter comments, if any.
  15. Enter a data type in the Item data field.
  16. Select Script It.
    The Script Clipboard window opens with the script of the label.
  17. Select Copy to Clipboard.
  18. Optional: In the Font and Color tab, set up properties for the font name, size, style, text, color, and background colors for the radio button.
  19. Optional: In the Advanced tab, copy data forward, use no zero decimals, attach audio or a list, or create a tooltip for the radio button.
  20. Optional: In the Field Attributes tab, view the added attribute and values from the Attribute Setup.
    You can select the values from the list for the respective attributes. Boolean type attributes have a True or False option and numeric type attribute have integers from the minimum value to maximum value defined for the attribute.
  21. Optional: In the Extended tab, set up a custom image for the radio button.
  22. Select OK, and then select Save.
