Medications Module

The NextGen® Enterprise EHR Medications module enables you to prescribe, print, fax, and e-prescribe (requires enrollment) patient medications. The Medications module also enables you to educate patients on medications prescribed to them, and check whether the prescribed medication has adverse interactions with other prescribed medications, existing allergies, or known diagnoses. Delete Medication Allergy

Before you begin Ensure the encounter that you select to open Medication Allergies module is unlocked. If you need to delete a medication allergy assigned to a locked encounter, you must create either a custom or a new encounter and add a new allergy with the modifications to an existing allergy. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR. Open the Medication Allergies module for the selected patient. Select the allergy you want to delete from the module grid and select Delete. The Delete Record window opens displaying the confirmation message. Do one of the following: You can select Delete and mark item "Inactive" if you want to make the allergy inactive. You can select Delete and mark item "Entered in error" for an allergy that is incorrectly added by provider. Select Yes to delete the allergy. Select No or close the window to cancel the deletion. Open the Medication Allergies Module

You can open the Medication Allergies module and acknowledge drug interactions. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR, and select a patient from the Patient Lookup window. Select or create an encounter from the Encounter History tab. To open the Medication Allergies module, select Allergies from the Quick Buttons panel. Managing Medications and Allergies

In NextGen® Enterprise EHR you can electronically prescribe and submit prescriptions directly to selected pharmacies. You can also check a patient's eligibility, electronically communicate with a pharmacy, submit patient's prescriptions, and authorize or decline refill requests. In the Medications module, you can prescribe, print, fax, and e-prescribe patient medications. The Medication module also enables you to educate patients on medications prescribed to them, and check whether the prescribed medication has adverse interactions with other prescribed medications, existing allergies, or known diagnoses. In the Medication Allergies module, you can enter and retrieve any currently known adverse reaction to substances that may put the patient at risk if the patient is exposed to similar substances in the future. Check Medication Allergy Interactions

You can check for interactions between a patient allergy and all of the active medications prescribed to the patient. Open the Medication Allergies module. Select an active medication allergy. Select Interactions. NextGen® Enterprise EHR checks the selected allergy against the list of all active medications. If there is an interaction, the Interaction Check DUR window opens. Interaction Check DUR Note: The display of allergy interaction is based on the display levels set for the system, a specific user, or both. Highlight the listed medication to view the summary of the existing conflict. NextGen® Enterprise lists a summary of effect and level of risk. Select OK to close the Interaction Check window.
