Review Patient Medication Allergy

In compliance with the requirements of the Certification Commission for Healthcare Information Technology (CCHIT), NextGen® Enterprise EHR supports review of patient's medication allergies. Open the Medication Allergies module. The Medication Allergies module displays the current review status for all listed medication allergies. Select Review. NextGen® Enterprise EHR displays the name of the person who reviewed all listed allergies and lists the date and time of the most current allergy review. Parent topic: Medication Allergies Module

Check Medication Allergy Interactions

You can check for interactions between a patient allergy and all of the active medications prescribed to the patient. Open the Medication Allergies module. Select an active medication allergy. Select Interactions. NextGen® Enterprise EHR checks the selected allergy against the list of all active medications. If there is an interaction, the Interaction Check DUR window opens. Interaction Check DUR Note: The display of allergy interaction is based on the display levels set for the system, a specific user, or both. Highlight the listed medication to view the summary of the existing conflict. NextGen® Enterprise lists a summary of effect and level of risk. Select OK to close the Interaction Check window. View Who Changed a Medication Allergy

Each time someone creates or modifies a patient's medication allergies, the application records who made the change and when it was done. You can view who created and last modified a patient's medication allergies. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR, and select a patient from Patient Lookup window. Select an existing encounter from the Encounter History tab or create an encounter. To open the Medication Allergies module, select Allergies from the Quick Buttons panel. The Medication Allergies module opens and displays the items that the patient is allergic to. Medication Allergies Module Select a medication allergy. Right-click the medication allergy and select Who/When.The Modification Information window displays with the name of the person who entered the allergy into the patient chart, and the name of the person who last modified the selected allergy. Add a Medication Allergy to a Patient Chart

Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR. Open the Medication Allergies module for the selected patient. If the patient has any existing allergies, select Clear. The values in all the fields are cleared. Note: Clearing the fields prevents you from editing an existing allergy. To search and filter an allergy, do the following: Select the search icon next to Allergy. The NextGen - Allergy Selection window opens. Allergy Selection Select one of the following filters from the Filter list: Contains Searches for allergies that contain with the search criteria. Ends With Searches for allergies that end with the search criteria. Ingredient Searches from the list of drug ingredients, such as Iodine or Bentonite. Medication Name searches from the list of medication allergies, such as cefazolin with codeine. Allergen Group Searches from the list of allergens, such as lithium derivatives or ester type anesthetics. Open the Clinical Reconciliation Module

You can Open the Clinical Reconciliation module from the Medication Allergies module.In the Clinical Reconciliation module, you can reconcile a patient's medications and medication allergies, create a reconciliation summary, and view a patient's reconciliation history. Open the Medication Allergies module. Select Reconcile. The Clinical Reconciliation module opens. Delete Medication Allergy

Before you begin Ensure the encounter that you select to open Medication Allergies module is unlocked. If you need to delete a medication allergy assigned to a locked encounter, you must create either a custom or a new encounter and add a new allergy with the modifications to an existing allergy. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR. Open the Medication Allergies module for the selected patient. Select the allergy you want to delete from the module grid and select Delete. The Delete Record window opens displaying the confirmation message. Do one of the following: You can select Delete and mark item "Inactive" if you want to make the allergy inactive. You can select Delete and mark item "Entered in error" for an allergy that is incorrectly added by provider. Select Yes to delete the allergy. Select No or close the window to cancel the deletion.
