Manage the Immunizations Recommendations List

Before you begin

  • Ensure that you have configured the universal preferences for external web-based resources in System Administrator. For more information, go to NextGen Healthcare Success Community and download the latest System Administrator Guide for NextGen® Enterprise.
  • Ensure that you have configured the vaccine relationships and schedules in File Maintenance. For more information, go to NextGen Healthcare Success Community and download the latest File Maintenance Preferences Guide for NextGen® Enterprise.
  • Ensure that you have configured allergy check for immunization orders.
  • Ensure that you have configured drug interactions checks. For more information on the medication interactions setup, go to NextGen Healthcare Success Community and download the latest Drug Interaction and Medication Update Utility User Guide for NextGen® Enterprise EHR and Medications and Medication Allergies Module User Guide for NextGen® Enterprise EHR.
You can view a patient's immunizations recommendations for different vaccine groups, vaccine statuses, and last administered doses; and select vaccines for ordering.
  1. Open CPOE.
  2. Select Immunizations.

    The IMMUNIZATIONS recommendations list appears.

  3. To exclude vaccine groups and document vaccine series completion, see Manage Vaccine Exclusions.
  4. To update past vaccine information, see Manage Information on Past Vaccines.
  5. To view web-based resources for Clinical Decision Support (CDS), select the menu icon and select any of the following:
    • VAERS Reporting
    • Adult Schedule
    • Adult Schedule
    • Travellers Health
    • NDC Crosswalk
  6. To add a vaccine or update your vaccine inventory information, select the menu icon and select Vaccine Inventory.
    The Vaccine Inventory List window opens, where you can update an existing vaccine and also set up a new vaccine on the Vaccine Inventory window.

  7. To map custom Vaccines For Children (VFC) SIM codes and other unique immunization codes for billing purposes, select the menu icon and select Vaccine Billing.
    The Vaccine Billing List window opens where you can select and update Current Procedural Terminology (CPT) codes.

  8. Select an immunization order item.
    The Review Allergies window opens (if enabled) when you select the first immunization item for the encounter. CPOE saves your allergy review for all subsequent immunization items you select for the encounter. For more information on reviewing allergies, see Perform Allergy Check.
