Electronic Prescribing (eRx) Refill Requests

When you electronically submit patient medication prescriptions to a pharmacy, you may receive a refill request from that pharmacy. These refill requests are unsolicited and until you respond to a request, you have no other interaction with the pharmacy that requested the refill.

Each refill request creates a task in the Workflow module and the Manage Refills window in the Medications module. NextGen® Enterprise EHR evaluates the status of the medication in the patient's chart. If the request can be matched to an existing patient, the information appears with the option to approve or deny the request. An alert appears if a matched refill request is linked to an inactive medication.
