You can add the procedure documentation and procedure findings values for sections and subsections in the Procedure Documentation Config practice template.
- Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR.
- From the File menu, select System \ Practice Template.
The Select Template window opens.
- From the Show section, select All.
- Select Procedure Documentation Config, and then select OK.
The Procedure Documentation Config practice template opens.
- Expand the Documentation panel and select a procedure from the list.
The procedures are configured for a specialty on the
Procedure Config practice template.
- Select Procedure documentation or Procedure finding to configure values for a section or subsection available in the left pane of this panel.
If you select the
Procedure Findings option, the system opens a list of locations or findings documented for a procedure in the
Procedure Findings panel.
Based on the selected procedure, the first list can include locations. After you select a location, the second list appears to select a finding.
- Select a section or subsection from the left pane.
A navigational tab displays a short description of the section or finding.
- Enter a Value to appear for the section or subsection in the runtime templates.
The value documented in the Value field fills the Short description field. The value in the Short description field appears as a navigational tab above the grid in the Documentation panel on this practice template, and on the runtime templates.
- Select Selection type and select any of the following options:
- Mutually exclusive - In runtime, you can select only one value from the right grid for a section or subsection.
- Multiple choice - In runtime, you can select more than one value from the right grid for a section or subsection.
- Select Value type and select an option to indicate if the value is a number pad, free text, or static.
- Number Pad - In runtime, a number pad opens after you select the value.
- Free Text - In runtime, the freetext input window opens after you select the value.
- Static - Makes the sentence concatenation unique to the specific value.
- If you select the Location section from the left pane, select the GET member equivalent field and select the location to map the location with the finding.
In the runtime Findings panel, the mapped location appears in the procedure findings grid below the GET so that you need not select the location on the ASC Phy Procedure Findings template.
- If the value is mutually exclusive, select the Next Section field and select the next section from the list.
The list includes an upper-blank row to clear the selected value from the
Next Section field.
In the runtime template, the system automatically selects the next section after selecting the value.
- If the value is required for a regulatory, registry reason, to comply with quality measures, or other reason(s), enter the reason in the Required field.
Note: If the value is made a required value, any attempt to edit or delete the value generates an alert message.
- If the value needs to be associated with the billing codes:
- Select Proc description to open the procedure code search window.
- Search and select a procedure code. The selected procedure and the code appear in the Proc description field and Proc code field respectively.
- If applicable, enter associated modifier to the procedure description in the Mod 1 and Mod 2 fields.
- To associate a diagnosis to the selected value, select the Common diagnosis framework reference system field and select a reference system.
- Select a Diagnosis group configured for the selected reference system on the Dx Problem Groups Reference Systems practice template.
The Clear button clears the values from the Common diagnosis framework reference system and Diagnosis group fields.
- Select Add.
The documented data appears in the right grid of the Documentation panel.
- To add a new level to the configured content in the right grid, highlight the data in the right grid and select Add Level.
- Repeat steps 5 to 15 to add the next level values.
Note: If a duplicate entry is made, an alert message appears and the duplicate entry is not saved to the grid.
