Associate a Billing Code to a Procedure

You can associate a billing code and service category with procedures your practice performs using the Procedure Billing panel.

1. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR.
2. From the File menu, select System \ Practice Template.
3. In Select Template, select the Practice tab.
4. In the Show section, select All.
   A list of practice templates opens.
5. Select Dx Groups Reference Systems and select OK.
6. On the Dx Groups Reference Systems practice template, go to Procedure Billing Panel.
7. Select a procedure record from the grid.
   The selected procedure data appears in the corresponding fields above the grid.
8. Select Procedure description to open the procedure code search window.
9. Search for and select the desired procedure description.
   The selected procedure description associated with the code appears in the Procedure description and Code fields, respectively.
10. Select Service Category to select a service category from the list.
    The Service category and the associated short description are created in File Maintenance > Master Files - System > Service Categories.
    The Short description field fills in the short description associated with the service category.
11. Select Update.
    The procedure billing code is updated in the grid.
