Drilling Down to Show Report Details

If the information is not combined on some reports, you can "drill-down" to look at the detailed record. As you move the mouse cursor over a record on the report, the cursor changes to a "drill-down" cursor. Double-click the record to look at the data source. For example, if you double-click on an encounter-based item on the report, the encounter record opens. If you make any changes to the record, select Refresh on the report toolbar to update the report with the modified information. Parent topic: Working with the Report Display

Previewing a Report

Previewing a report enables you to see how the report will look once printed. The preview screen has different tools to help you review the information on the report. The Navigation bar helps you navigate through the report pages. The numbers indicate the page you are currently viewing and the total number of report pages. Select the arrows to move to the first, previous, next, and last pages. You can also use shortcut keys on the keyboard to move from page to page. You can press the SHIFT key to initiate a cursor that changes to . Then press the left arrow to move to the previous page or press the right arrow to move to the next page. Select the Magnifying Glass to zoom in and select it again to zoom out. After you select the Magnifying Glass, you can hover the mouse arrow on the page and left-click to zoom in closer or right-click to zoom out farther. In addition, you can select the arrow next to the Magnifying Glass and choose one of the pre-set selections. You can press the ALT key

Working with Reports On-Screen

When you initially run a report, it displays the data. This is not a Print Preview; it is not an accurate representation of how the report looks when you print it. To see the report in a print preview, select the Preview Report button on the report toolbar. It does, however, give you a chance to: View the actual data of the report. Manipulate the data using the "drill-down" functionality. Set the report's column sizes. You can also use the Page Up and Page Down keys on your keyboard to look through the report on-screen. Set Up Report Options

You can modify report options to change how numbers display and how the report prints. You can also save the changes in a memorized report. If you change the report options and then memorize the report, the changes save with the report. Do one of the following: From the report display, select Report Options on the Report toolbar. From the report display, right-click and then select Options. From the Report Filter window, select Options. The Report Options window opens. Set your settings for the report. For more information on settings, see the Report Option Descriptions section. To save changes and close the window, select OK. Changing the Level of Detail for Report Totals

You can specify whether the report shows details or only the total amounts. When details display, the individual records are listed above each total. When only the totals display, the individual records are removed so that only the totals display. You can set the options from the report display or from the Report Filter window. From the report display, right-click and select either Show Details or Totals Only. The option with a checkmark indicates how the report currently appears. From the Report Filter window, on the Settings List section, select Totals and then select the Total lines only check box to see only the totals, or clear the check box to see all the details. Setting Report Columns and Filters

Reports have columns and filters that you can use to customize the data and format. The filter criteria available to you depend on the report you are creating. Once you've set your report filters, you can memorize it (see Memorizing Reports) so the report is readily available at any time. You can modify reports by: Adding and removing columns. Selecting different sorting and grouping orders. Selecting new ways of totaling the columns. Modifying the criteria used for each report that you generate, such as specific date ranges for a particular rendering physician. Some common elements display in the Report Filter window for each report. For example, all filters have similar filter options in the Settings List such as Columns, Filter 1, Filter 2, and Sorting. If a filter option is not available, then it does not apply to the report. Open Report Filter In Report Filter, you can set your report criteria, such as date ranges and statuses.
