Previewing a Report

Previewing a report enables you to see how the report will look once printed. The preview screen has different tools to help you review the information on the report. The Navigation bar helps you navigate through the report pages. The numbers indicate the page you are currently viewing and the total number of report pages. Select the arrows to move to the first, previous, next, and last pages. You can also use shortcut keys on the keyboard to move from page to page. You can press the SHIFT key to initiate a cursor that changes to . Then press the left arrow to move to the previous page or press the right arrow to move to the next page. Select the Magnifying Glass to zoom in and select it again to zoom out. After you select the Magnifying Glass, you can hover the mouse arrow on the page and left-click to zoom in closer or right-click to zoom out farther. In addition, you can select the arrow next to the Magnifying Glass and choose one of the pre-set selections. You can press the ALT key

Preview and Print Reports

When a report is generated and it displays on screen, you can either print the report or you can preview the report to see how it will look when you print it. To print a report from the report display, do the following: From the report toolbar, select Print Report . Note: If you want to print specific pages instead of the entire report, select Preview Report . The report prints to your default printer. To preview a report from the report display, do the following: From the report toolbar, select Preview Report . The Print Preview window opens. If a message displays indicating the report does not fit on the page, select Yes to return to the report display, and then remove and resize columns as necessary. If you select No to return to the report, the report shows as much as possible, but some data is cut off. Display Report Definitions

You can include report definitions, such as column and filter selections, on the printed output for a report in NextGen® Enterprise PM. This enables you to refer to the report definitions if you need to recreate a previously printed report. Note: Report filter definitions are also included on reports that are exported to Excel. Access the Report Filter window. Select Head/Foot. The Customize Report Header/Footer window opens. In the Miscellaneous Options section, select the Report Filter Definition check box. To save changes and close the window, select OK. From the Settings List, select columns, filters, and sorting for the report and then select OK. The report generates and appears on screen. From the report toolbar, select Print Preview . The Preview [Report Name] window opens. To view the report filter definition, scroll to the last page of the report. Setting Report Columns and Filters

All reports have columns and filters that you can use to customize the report data and format. You can modify the reports by: Adding and removing columns. Selecting different sorting and grouping orders. Selecting new ways of totaling the columns. Modifying the criteria used for each report that you generate, such as specific date ranges for a rendering provider. Because each report generates different information, the filter criteria available to you depends on the report you are creating. After you have modified a report filter to fit your needs, you can memorize it so you can run the report at another time. To open the Report Filter window, do one of the following: Select a report from the Reports menu. If a report is already open, select the Report Filter toolbar button. Working with the Report Display

When you initially run a report, the report displays the data for viewing purposes only; the display is not an accurate preview of how the report will print. The display enables you to: View the actual report data. Manipulate the data's source by drilling down see, Drilling Down to Show Report Details. Adjust the report column sizes. You can also use the Page Up and Page Down keys on your keyboard to view the previous and next pages. To view the report, select Preview Report on the Report toolbar. Drilling Down to Show Report Details

If the information is not combined on some reports, you can "drill-down" to look at the detailed record. As you move the mouse cursor over a record on the report, the cursor changes to a "drill-down" cursor. Double-click the record to look at the data source. For example, if you double-click on an encounter-based item on the report, the encounter record opens. If you make any changes to the record, select Refresh on the report toolbar to update the report with the modified information.
