Configuring the Sub Bar Navigation Links

The Sub Bar Navigation links (subnavigation links) are blue links that appear below the navigation bar on workflow templates. There is room for up to eight of these on most templates, and up to sixteen on the NTS Homepage template. Sub Bar Navigation links on a template Use the Sub Bar Navigation grid to specify which links appear and what items they open. There are some pre-configured settings available for you in the Sub Bar Navigation panel. The asterisk (*) in the grid indicates that the corresponding record is the default setting for the templates that are not configured. You can change the links, display names, and order of links as needed. Navigation and Documentation Shortcuts

You can configure certain settings that reduce the number of steps and amount of typing you must do to complete a patient’s documentation. Some of the helpful tools are: Template links that open frequently used templates QuickPicks that save standard template entries Get Data to copy template entries from a previous encounter My Phrases that save frequently-used phrases Quick Add so you can quickly enter data into a series of fields Sub Navigation Links QuickPick Toolbar Quickpick toolbar overview Use Get Data Comments My Phrases You can save phrases in a list for your own use. Template Links

You can use the links that appear on the templates of NextGen® Orthopedic Suite to open frequently used templates. The links for frequently used templates vary for each workflow, based on the configurations for your practice, provider, and specialty. The links can also vary depending on the visit type and age of the patient. Template links You can configure links using the Sub Bar Navigation panel on the Navigation Configuration system template. Managing Sub Navigation Bar

You can manage links in the sub navigation bar of medical record templates from the Sub Bar Navigation panel of the Specialty Nav Config system template. Add a New Sub Navigation Link to a Template

You can add sub navigation links on the medical record templates of the NextGen® Orthopedic Suite. On the Specialty Nav Config system template, expand the Sub Bar Navigation panel. In the field below the Template Name column of the grid, select the template for which you want to configure sub navigation links. Click the Link field. A picklist of templates and databases opens. Select the template or database picklist to add as a sub navigation link and click OK. In the Display field, enter a display name for the link. Click Add/Update. Managing Top Navigation Bar

You can control which tabs appear in the gray workflow bar at the top of NextGen® Orthopedic Suite templates from the Top Bar Navigation panel of the Specialty Nav Config system template. You can change the tab links (the template pages or picklists that the tabs open), the tab display names and their order. For optimal workflow, NextGen Healthcare recommend keeping the links as close to the default set as possible. There are two sections in the Top Bar Navigation panel: Visit Type/Workflow: Use this section to configure templates accessed from the top bar of the standard configured workflow. Single Bar Navigation: Use this section to configure templates accessed from the top bar of templates outside the workflow. You can also add a new template to single bar navigation.
