Ophthalmology Provider Workflow

Provider workflow may begin at the Home Page - OPH template, where you can review patient information. The provider workflow for documenting a patient exam continues on the Provider - OPH template. Providers can review tests performed by the technician, document the physical exam, and record tests performed during the provider's portion of the encounter. Ophthalmic Suite Setup Templates

The NextGen® Ophthalmic Suite template set requires setup before use. Some of these configurations are required, and others are optional. You can find configurations specific to the NextGen® Ophthalmic Suite template sets on the Eye Configuration practice template. You can configure practice configurations for NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine on the Practice Configuration practice template. You can use the Framework Content system template to configure content on the Ophthalmology and Optometry templates. Review and update the content before using the template set to document patient encounters. Ophthalmic Suite

The NextGen® Ophthalmic Suite is a standalone package with three template sets. You can document clinical visits in the Ophthalmology, Optometry specialties and ambulatory surgical center (ASC) visits in the Ophthalmology (ASC) templates. Ophthalmology Template Set The main templates in the Ophthalmology specialty template set, and the encounter information documented. Optometry Template Set Primary templates used in the Optometry specialty. Ophthalmic Suite Setup Templates System and practice templates are used in Ophthalmic Suite setup and configuration. Templates Used for Ophthalmology Configuration

The following templates are used for configuring settings and content for Ophthalmology. Template Description Eye Configuration This practice template is where you configure settings specific to the Ophthalmology specialty. Practice Configuration Practice-level template used for configuring practice preferences for the functioning of important features throughout the system by selecting from options currently available. You can set the pronoun to be used in concatenation for the HPI and enable gender related details to appear in the chart note. Navigation Configuration

You can customize the links and labels on the top navigation bar and sub navigation bar on the Navigation Configuration (Specialty Nav Config) system template. You can also configure the physical exam sidebar based on the rendering provider. Ophthalmic Provider Configuration Options

The Provider Specialty grid on the Eye Configuration practice template displays details for providers that have been set up with special configurations and permissions specific to NextGen® Ophthalmic Suite including: Assign providers to different sub-specialties of Ophthalmology. Setting the sub-specialty for Ophthalmology providers causes template navigation to automatically be configured for their sub-specialty when they open the Ophthalmology templates. This setting is optional for generalists. Give privileges to individual providers to be able to copy forward portions of their last exams to a new encounter. By default, the Copy last exam forward option is not selected. Allow the Provider HPI Details section of the Ophthalmology Generic HPI to be editable by the technician or scribe for an individual provider.
