Add a New Sub Navigation Link to a Template

You can add sub navigation links on the medical record templates of the NextGen® Orthopedic Suite. On the Specialty Nav Config system template, expand the Sub Bar Navigation panel. In the field below the Template Name column of the grid, select the template for which you want to configure sub navigation links. Click the Link field. A picklist of templates and databases opens. Select the template or database picklist to add as a sub navigation link and click OK. In the Display field, enter a display name for the link. Click Add/Update. You can manage links in the sub navigation bar of medical record templates from the Sub Bar Navigation panel of the Specialty Nav Config system template. Managing Top Navigation Bar

You can control which tabs appear in the gray workflow bar at the top of NextGen® Orthopedic Suite templates from the Top Bar Navigation panel of the Specialty Nav Config system template. You can change the tab links (the template pages or picklists that the tabs open), the tab display names and their order. For optimal workflow, NextGen Healthcare recommend keeping the links as close to the default set as possible. There are two sections in the Top Bar Navigation panel: Visit Type/Workflow: Use this section to configure templates accessed from the top bar of the standard configured workflow. Single Bar Navigation: Use this section to configure templates accessed from the top bar of templates outside the workflow. You can also add a new template to single bar navigation. Sub-Navigational Links

Sub-navigational links are conveniently located below the template tab and you can configure them to open frequently used templates from the main tabbed templates. For the NextGen® Ophthalmic Suite, some of the sub-navigational links open templates used by all specialties; others open templates that are specific to the selected specialty and visit type. You can configure the sub-navigational links on the Framework Content practice template. Template Links

You can use links to open frequently used templates. Based on the configuration in the Framework Content system template, links appear in the Intake, Histories, SOAP, Finalize, and Checkout tabs. The appearance of these links can vary based on the specialty, visit type, template, tab, and age of the patient. The links can be configured based on the following: Specialty Practice Provider Specialty and practice Specialty and provider These links are associated with a particular tab. Navigation Configuration

You can customize the links and labels on the top navigation bar and sub navigation bar on the Navigation Configuration (Specialty Nav Config) system template. You can also configure the physical exam sidebar based on the rendering provider.
