Documenting Immunization Administration Details

You can document the administration details of vaccines ordered for a patient. On the MICS Immunizations template, in the Immunization Administration panel, you can view the vaccines ordered for the patient, and document the administration details of vaccines. In the Immunization Administration panel, you can do the following: Open the website of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to view the immunization schedule for all immunizations Document vaccines administration, and the patient’s response View patient's allergies Document any ordered vaccines as not administered View the patient’s immunization history View CDC Immunization Schedules You can view Center for Disease Control (CDC) immunization schedules for a patient. Update Submitted Vaccine Administration Details

You can update the vaccine administration details after they are submitted for billing. If you have the administrative override rights, you can unlock a vaccination record to make changes or document additional information. Note: Administrative override does not remove any charges already submitted, and does not adjust the inventory count; those must be adjusted manually. On the MICS Immunizations template, expand the Immunization Administration panel. Select one of the following options to view the required order in the Immunization Orders grid: Today's Orders Prior Pending Orders Select the required vaccination record. The Admin Override button becomes available. Select Admin Override. A confirmation window appears to confirm the admin override. Select Yes. The Submit button re-appears, and the Admin Override button is replaced with red text that says Admin Override. Select the vaccination record again. Submit Charges

Ordering and Administering Immunizations

You can order vaccines, and document immunization information on the MICS Immunizations template. On the MICS Immunizations template, you can use the links and fields appearing above the Immunization Ordering panel to document the preliminary details for ordering and administering vaccines. The first three icons in the QuickPick toolbar are disabled on the MICS Immunizations template, and you can only use the remaining functions in the QuickPick toolbar. The following table describes the panels on the MICS Immunizations template. Panel Description Immunization Ordering To view the vaccine details and the immunizations relevant to the patient, and order vaccines. Submitting Charges

Once documentation on dispensed medication is complete, the final step is submitting charges. Once charges are submitted, the template is locked, unless you have administrative override rights (see Administrative Override). Submitting charges does the following: Ties the lot number(s) to the patient Takes the medication(s) out of inventory Sends the information to the Procedures module Sends charges to NextGen® Enterprise PM Submit Charges Parent topic: Documenting Dispensed Medications

Submit Charges on MICS Med Management

Once all documentation is complete, the final step is to submit charges. When you click Submit, the following occurs: Ties the lot number(s) to the patient Takes the medication(s) out of inventory Sends the information to the Procedures Module Sends charges to Practice Management The information displays in the Completed Medication grid. The prescription information updates to show the number of prescriptions dispensed and the number of prescriptions that remain in the Medication Management grid. Parent topic: Managing Medications
