Adding Preliminary Details for Ordering and Administering Vaccines

You can add preliminary details for ordering and administering vaccines on the MICS Immunizations template. The following table describes the fields appearing above the Immunization Ordering panel on the MICS Immunizations template, which are used to add preliminary details for ordering and administering vaccines to the patients. Field Description Adult Vaccine Questionnaire You can select this link to document responses from adults for the vaccine screening questions on the Vaccine Screening Questions - Adults window that opens. Child and Teen Vaccine Questionnaire You can select this link to document responses from teens or children for the vaccine screening questions on the Vaccine Questions for Children and Teens window that opens. Specialty You can select this field, and select an appropriate specialty from the specialty window. Viewing Vaccine Details

You can view vaccine details such as vaccine dose, such as lot number, expiration date, the dates it was ordered and administered by selecting the vaccine name in the grid of the Immunization Ordering panel on the MICS Immunizations template. Parent topic: Ordering and Administering Immunizations

Order a Vaccine

You can order a vaccine from the Create New Immunization Order for [patient name] template. On the MICS Immunizations template, expand the Immunization Ordering panel. Select New. The Create New Immunization Order for [patient name] template opens. Do one of the following. If the vaccine is available in the Select Vaccines grid, select the vaccine. To search for a vaccine that is not in the grid, search the vaccine using Search All button and select the vaccine. If an Age/Interval window opens, select Yes to continue. If the Review Allergies window opens, select the appropriate option, and select Save. The Review Allergies window closes and the selected vaccine appears the Assign Diagnosis to Selected Vaccines grid. Select Save. The Create New Immunization Order For [patient name] template closes. Documenting Vaccine Administration

You can document details of vaccines that need to be administered to a patient. On the MICS Immunizations template, in the Immunization Administration panel, you can document administration details of vaccines that are ordered for the patient. In the Immunization Orders grid, you can view the vaccine entry to verify that an order is placed through the Orders module for the vaccine to be administered. You can document basic information for a vaccine manually or by scanning the bar code. After you enter the basic information, you can either waste the vaccine or add additional information before submitting charges. Ordering and Administering Immunizations

You can order vaccines, and document immunization information on the MICS Immunizations template. On the MICS Immunizations template, you can use the links and fields appearing above the Immunization Ordering panel to document the preliminary details for ordering and administering vaccines. The first three icons in the QuickPick toolbar are disabled on the MICS Immunizations template, and you can only use the remaining functions in the QuickPick toolbar. The following table describes the panels on the MICS Immunizations template. Panel Description Immunization Ordering To view the vaccine details and the immunizations relevant to the patient, and order vaccines. Document Additional Immunization Details

You can document additional immunization details before you submit charges. On the MICS Immunizations template, expand the Immunization Administration panel. Select the Consent given by field, and select who has given consent from the list. Note: You can enter the value in this field even if the patient is an adult. Enter the additional immunization details. Document the patient response to the immunization in the Patient Response section. Note: You can document patent response at the time of administration or before submitting charges. Select Add/Update. The additional immunization details are saved to the Immunization Orders grid.
