Administrative Override

You can update the medication details for dispensed or administered medication even after submitting the charges using Admin override functionality, if you have administrative override rights. Administrative override does not remove any charges already submitted; those must be adjusted manually. Note: The Admin Override button is only visible to the users having administrative override rights, once charges are submitted. Open the MICS Med Management template. Select the Admin Override button to unlock the template. The system prompts you to confirm that you want to override charges on this encounter. Select Yes. The Submit button re-appears and the Admin Override button is replaced with red text that says Admin Override. Select the record to be updated from the Completed Medication grid. Do one of the following: Correct any incorrect documentation such as side, site, and lot number by clicking in the desired fields. Waste a medication. Select Submit. Ordered or Prescribed Medications

You can view all medications that are ordered or prescribed through the Medication module or Office Procedures template in the Ordered/Prescribed medications grid on the MICS Med Management template. When a medication was ordered through the Medication module, the SIG, start date, Rx quantity, Rx Units, total prescriptions, prescriptions remaining, last refilled, last audit and total prescriptions display in the SIG column of the grid. Mark Medications as Waste Using MICS Med Management

You can mark medications as waste and take them out of the inventory using the MICS Med Management template. Open the MICS Med Management template. Select the prescribed or ordered medication in the Medication Management panel. The details appear in the Manage Selected Medication section. If sub locations are enabled, select the sub location the medication is pulled from. Enter the details of the medication manually or using the bar code. If more than one unit is being dispensed or administered today, click the Rx Quantity field, and change the quantity. Select Clear All. A message appears prompting you to confirm that you want to waste this medication. Select Yes. Note: Selecting No clears the fields. The MLTS RFW picklist appears. Select the reason, and click OK. The medication details are removed, the medication is marked as wasted, and the medication is taken out of the inventory. Parent topic: Managing Medications

Document Administered or Dispensed Medications Manually

When a medication is prescribed or ordered from Medications module or Procedure Orders template, it appears in the Medication Management grid. You can document the dispensing and administration of that medication. On the MICS Med Management template, expand the Medication Management panel. In the top grid, select the prescribed or ordered medication. The details of the medication appear in the Manage Selected Medication section. If sub-locations are turned on for the practice, select the sub-location the medication is pulled from, and select OK. Note: Sub-Location is a required field, if turned on. To add the diagnosis codes for selected medication, select diagnosis codes in the Diagnosis and Second Dx fields. Note: You can not edit the diagnosis codes that are associated with the medications in the Medications module or Office Procedures template. Managing Medications

You can document the dispensing and administration details of ordered medications on the MICS Med Management template. You can use the MICS Med Management template to document the dispensing and administration details of medications that are ordered from the Medications module and Office Procedures core template. You can also waste medications, and keep a track of medications that are prescribed and filled in-house. Before you start documenting the details in the Medication Management panel, you must enter the specialty in the Specialty field. After you enter the specialty, the selected value is defaulted in the Specialty field on the following templates of the NextGen® Medication Inventory Control, and the Specialty field becomes read-only.
