Adding General Information for Eye Injections

Field / link	Description
Specialty	By default, the Ophthalmology option is displayed as the specialty when you open the MICS MedAdmin OPH template. After you open the MICS MedAdmin OPH template, the Ophthalmology option is defaulted in the Specialty field on all medical record templates of the NextGen® Medication Inventory Control, and the Specialty field becomes read-only.
Surgeon	You can select the appropriate surgeon for the procedure.
Technician	You can select the appropriate technician for the procedure.
Prepared by	You can select the preparer of the injection.
Provider-OPH	Opens the Provider-OPH template, where you can review and update patient information, preliminary exam findings, and document physical exams. For more information, go to NextGen Healthcare Success Community, and download the latest user guide for NextGen® Ophthalmic Suite.
Consent	Opens the Consent Forms - OPH form where you can document patient consent for a procedure.
Generate Consent	Generates the consent document.
Consent was obtained	You can select this check box to indicate that the consent was obtained for performing the procedure.
Procedure/risks were explained	You can select this check box to indicate that the procedure and the risks associated with it were explained to the patient.
Questions were answered	You can select this check box to indicate that all questions of the patient were answered.
Correct patient identified	You can select this check box to indicate that the patient is verified as the correct person intended for the procedure.
Correct side confirmed	You can select this check box to indicate that correct side for the procedure is confirmed.
Sub-Location	You can select the sub-location for the practice from the locations window. The Sub-Location field appears only if it is configured in the Sub-Location(s) & Par Level Configuration panel on the Admin Configuration template. Documenting Eye Injections

You can document procedure and medication information for eye injection procedures in the OD Injection and OS Injection panels on the MICS MedAdmin OPH template. You can document the medication information for up to two medications for an eye injection. You can also document patient's response for the documented injection in the Patient Response section. Document Procedure Information for Eye Injections You can manually document procedure information for an eye injection or using a Quickpick. Generate Consent Form for an Eye Injection Procedure

Documenting Ophthalmology Injections

You can document ophthalmology injection procedures for a patient on the MICS MedAdmin OPH template. On the MICS MedAdmin OPH template, you can document procedure information, medications administered, and the patient's response for eye injection procedures. You can use the fields appearing before the Today’s Assessments panel to add the general details for documenting eye injection procedures. You can also use the sections after the Injection 2 panel to document follow-up information and view the injection history. The following table describes the panels on the MICS MedAdmin OPH template. Adding Preliminary Details for Injections and Aspirations

You can add preliminary details for documenting injection and aspiration procedures on the MICS Injections/Aspirations template. The following table describes the fields appearing above the Procedure Type panels on the MICS Injections/Aspirations template, which are used to add preliminary details for documenting injection and aspiration procedures. Document Procedure Information for Eye Injections

Note: The picklists for many of the fields open sequentially on selecting a value in the previous field. However, you can change your selection in any of the fields by selecting another value. Open the MICS MedAdmin OPH template, and then do one of the following: To document the right-eye-injection procedure, expand the OD Injection panel. To document the left-eye-injection procedure, expand the OS Injection panel. Injection panel on the MICS MedAdmin OPH template In Admin Type, select the type of injection. The CPT details automatically appear based on the admin type selected. In Med. Necessity, select the reason for the injection procedure. Select a category. To associate a diagnosis code with the procedure, select a diagnosis. Note: If you use NextGen® Orthopedic Suite, you must not enter diagnosis codes in the MICS MedAdmin OPH template. Adding General Information for Dispensed Medications

You can add general information for documenting dispensed medications on the MICS Dispensing template. The following table describes the fields on the MICS Dispensing template, which are used to add general information for dispensed medications. Field Description Prepared by You can click this field, and select the preparer of the injection from the providers window. Specialty You can click the field, and select an appropriate specialty from the specialty window. After you enter the specialty, the selected value is defaulted in the Specialty field on the following templates of the NextGen® Medication Inventory Control, and the Specialty field becomes read-only. MICS Imms MICS Injections/Aspirations MICS Med Management Sub-Location You can click this field, and select the sub-location for dispensing medications.
