Immunizations Workflows

For each visit, you need the flexibility to work with the Immunization functions as each event occurs in real time. If needed, for example, you may need to do any of the following: View or hide dose exceptions when administering immunizations. Select and document Excluded Immunizations. Document that an Immunizations series is complete. Mark a patient who has no previously documented immunizations for reporting purposes and tracking. Report adverse events. Document erroneous or wasted immunizations. Open File Maintenance or the Vaccine Inventory as you process an Immunization order. Viewing the Immunizations Order Life Cycle and Vaccine Statuses

To track the life cycle of an immunization order, you can view a patient’s immunization information on the Orders Summary tab, such as Performing Entity, Encounter Date, NextGen Status, Provider, and Immunizations description. The NextGen Status column enables you to track the Immunization Order life cycle. Ordered: The Immunization Order has been ordered and saved. Partial: Not all of the vaccines within a group of Immunization orders have been administered or have completed the Immunizations life cycle, that is, as least one order is still Pending. Complete: The Immunization order is completed. No order is pending and the Immunizations Orders can have any of the following statuses: Administered, Partially Administered, Refused, or Entered in Error. Note: If an Immunization order has been successfully administered, the status for the Immunization displays as Administered on the Vaccine Details tab and in the Description column on the Orders Summary tab. Select the Immunizations Chart or Recommendation Schedules

When you access the Immunizations module, you can select either the Chart or the Recommendation schedule. From the Orders Module, select the Immunizations tab. Either the Immunizations or Recommendation Schedule appears. To select another schedule, select either the Chart tab or the Recommendation tab. Note: The Recommendation schedule view is the system default. If you selected the Chart view on the Preferences window, the Chart view appears. Best Practices for Managing Your Immunizations Life Cycle

To create and track your Immunization orders effectively, NextGen® Enterprise EHR Immunizations module provides comprehensive functionality that is based on how you set up Immunizations in File Maintenance and System Administrator. Each practice has its own unique Orders and Immunizations workflow. As you use the Immunizations module, consider your primary patient type, such as pediatric and your overall workflow. For example, immunizations orders flow may begin with your physician conducting an office visit, selecting immunizations, and then passing the administration of immunizations to the clinical staff. To help you process your immunizations more effectively, consider the following best practices for managing your immunizations life cycle: To view the current vaccine schedules to determine which immunizations are due, access the Immunization Schedules (that is Chart, Recommendation, and Registry). To order an immunization, select a vaccine, provide the appropriate vaccine detail,

View Patient's Evaluated Immunization History and Forecast

To help you determine when a patient should receive the next immunization, view a patient’s immunization history and forecasted next due immunizations from your practice’s registry on the Registry tab. If a dose is deemed invalid, the system displays this in the Evaluated Immunization History section. For example, a patient was too young to receive a certain immunization. Note: The Evaluated Immunization History section displays the same data as the Reconciliation module. The Chart view tab data, however, may not display the same data that appears on the Registry tab. When you perform the Reconciliation process, the Evaluated Immunization History data matches the data in the Chart view. In the Orders Module, select the Immunizations tab. Select the Registry tab. Select the appropriate registry. To display a patient’s Evaluated Immunization History and Immunization Forecast, select Query. After the query process completes, the system displays the patient’s immunization and forecast data

System Updates the Immunizations Registry

The system updates or changes an Immunizations order that has already been sent to the registry when a user performs any of the following actions: User Action System Action Immunization Status or other system updates Adds an Immunization to an existing Immunizations order. Updates the Immunizations order with the new Immunization and sends to the Registry. Immunizations status remains unchanged in the Immunizations module. Cancels an Immunizations order. Cancels the entire Immunizations order and sends the status change to the Registry. Immunizations status remains unchanged in the Immunizations module. The NextGen order status is Cancelled. Deletes an existing Immunizations order. Deletes the Immunizations order and sends the update to the Registry. Immunizations order no longer displays on the Orders Summary grid or on the Orders Summary Immunizations grid.
