You can print a prescription to hand over to the patient. The following apply:
- If you print or fax a controlled substance prescription, you can no longer ePrescribe the prescription.
- If you ePrescribe a controlled substance, you can print or fax the prescription. The printed or faxed report must indicate that the printed or faxed copy is "not for dispensing."
- If you ePrescribe a controlled substance and the transmission fails, you can print or fax the prescription. The printed or faxed report must display a message that states the prescription was originally sent electronically to a pharmacy. The pharmacy’s name, and the date and time of the eRx message must display. The message must also show that the eRx message failed.
- If the Verify PIN Universal Preference is set to True, you are required to provide Medication Verification when printing a patient prescription.
NextGen® Enterprise EHR prompts you with the Sign On window. Enter your Enterprise/Practice, your user name and password and select OK. The login information used to fax/print medications must match the login information used to enter the system.
